Johnny Damon has a new team -- Thailand.

The 39-year-old free-agent outfielder will play for Thailand in World Baseball Classic qualifying in Thailand from Nov. 15-18. Thailand's first game is Nov. 15 against the Philippines.

The four-team qualifier also includes New Zealand and Chinese Taipei. The winner of the qualifier advances to the main tournament in March. 

Spain and Canada already have advanced from the first two qualifiers. Another qualifier is being played Nov. 15-19 in Panama City, Panama. Teams competing in Panama are Panama, Brazil, Nicaragua and Colombia.

Damon hit .222/.281/.329 in 64 games with the Indians this past season, hitting four home runs and stealing four bases. 

Damon's mother is from Thailand.
