Carl PavanoAccording to a report in the Meriden Record-Journal, a high school classmate has been accused of attempted extortion of Twins pitcher Carl Pavano.

According to a search warrant affidavit filed by police this month, Christian Bedard, of Southington, Conn., demanded "a heart-felt apology and a navy Range Rover with tan leather," or he would release what Pavano's sister called "fabricated, false information" about the right-hander.

Police seized a laptop and journal from the 36-year-old Bedard's home last week, but he has not yet been charged with a  crime, according to the report.

Bedard told the newspaper he was writing a journal as a way to give closure to what he called an "emotional and physical relationship" he had with Pavano while the two were in high school.

Bedard told Pavano's sister, Michelle DeGennaro, that he had a $1.2 million book deal, but he'd bypass that for the apology and the SUV -- as long as it was the right colors.

Pavano signed a two-year, $16.5 million deal before the 2011 season.
