FOXSports.com's senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal weighs in on the Cardinals, Blue Jays, Angels and more. 

  • With Chris Carpenter officially out for the season, the Cardinals are in the market for "at least one" starting pitcher and reliever, according to Rosenthal's latest dispatch. And, thanks to a farm system ranked in the top-10 by Baseball America, GM John Mozeliak has the chips to land any one of the biggest names rumored to be available: Cole Hamels, Zack Greinke or Matt Garza.
  • Greinke, Rosenthal writes, would welcome a trade to St. Louis, and would consider signing a long-term deal with the Cardinals. Whether the Brewers trade their star pitcher within their division is another matter. 
  • Houston's Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Myers could also fit in St. Louis, as Rosenthal notes Astros GM Jeff Luhnow drafted a number of Cardinals prospects during his time in St. Louis.
  • In Toronto, Colby Rasmus is becoming the center fielder the Blue Jays envisioned he would become when they traded for him last year, but Rosenthal wonders whether trading Rasmus might be the best option for Toronto, to help their decimated starting rotation. With Anthony Gose in Triple-A Las Vegas, and outfielder Jake Marisnick also in the system, perhaps it's time to sell high on Rasmus, now or during the offseason.  
  • If the Blue Jays do become sellers, Edwin Encarnacion will attract the most interest on the market. 
  • The Angels have a glut of outfielders, and are receiving calls about Peter Bourjos. 
  • Even though Dan Haren and Ervin Santana continue to struggle, the Angels appear not in the market for another starting pitcher, but that could change if Haren's back injury is significant. 
  • In Houston, tax reasons kept Carlos Lee from accepting a trade to the Dodgers, and Jed Lowrie is "essentially unavailable."
