Ever have a nightmare where you're late for an important test -- even though you haven't been in school in a long time? Failing to touch the plate on a home run is the closest baseball/softball equivalent.
Unfortunately for Alabama freshman Bailey Hemphill, she experienced that scenario during Monday's game against Ole Miss. Take a look at the play in question, and watch as Hemphill appears to leap past the plate while celebrating with her teammates:
Hemphill and her Alabama squad didn't seem to notice until it was too late, because she was tagged on her way back to right her wrong. Making matters worse for Hemphill is that her home run represented the tying run -- and that Alabama went on to lose by, you guessed it, a single run. Rough.
On the bright side, Hemphill will have a funny story to share with her grandchildren sometime in the future.
