Here's something we don't often see: an aluminum bat is about to break, courtesy of the University of Florida catcher J.J. Schwarz:

Man, I've never seen that before. Usually when aluminum bats break you see a crack in the metal or something and then just stop using it. This one was totally sawed off close to the handle like we see with the wood bats in the pros.

Florida would go on to win, 20-8, by the way. Schwarz was 2 for 6 with four RBI. Keep an eye on him for future reference.

Schwarz was a second-team All-American as a freshman and third-team All-American as a sophomore. He's eligible for the draft this coming summer and some outlets project him as a top-10 pick. MLB.com ranks him 19th among draft-eligible prospects for 2017.
