AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell3H agoThere are no inflection points in April. The baseball calendar is too long for that. But after a week like this one, the Padres' resolve is about to be tested -- and sooner than they would’ve liked. https://t.co/NCbHYK30Wx

Kevin Acee@sdutKevinAcee3H ago“It’s tough when you got a team like that and they come in here and they’re hitting everything — and hitting it over the wall.” Phillies out-homer Padres to complete 3-game sweep https://t.co/dvKUxAl1Xz

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell5H agoFinal: Phillies 8, Padres 6 The Padres threatened to come back late, but ended up with another loss -- their 4th straight -- and a sweep. The Phillies laced three homers off Michael King and added a couple of very important tack-on runs. San Diego is 14-17.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell6H agoLuis Campusano mashes a pinch-hit, three-run bomb, and that's it for Taijuan Walker. The Phillies' lead has been cut to one, and the top of the Padres order will face Jeff Hoffman in the seventh.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell7H agoThe Padres' first lead of the series is short-lived. Jake Cronenworth's two-run blast put them on top in the third. Bryson Stott responded with a two-run homer of his own in the fourth -- his second such blast of the game. It's 4-3 Phillies, mid-4.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell7H agoA three-run rally in three pitches. With the bases empty and two outs, Profar walked, Tatis ripped a first-pitch double, and Cronenworth followed with a first-pitch laser into the right-field seats. The Padres lead 3-2, their first lead of the series.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell10H agoGame 31: Phillies at Padres (Walker vs. King), 1:10 p.m. PT at Petco Park Lineup gets a shakeup, with Bogaerts and Kim dropping against the righty Walker. Machado back at third, with Pauley at DH. https://t.co/OBE6JDMLDN

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell23H agoDylan Cease is human, even against righties. The Padres’ offense did him no favors. https://t.co/72iTur0EOm

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell1D agoFinal: Phillies 5, Padres 1 Evidently Dylan Cease is fallible -- even against RHHs, who notched 5 hits tonight. (Aside from Bohm's, that was mostly down to poor batted-ball luck.) In any case, the Padres' offense did nothing outside of Eguy Rosario's solo shot. The skid hits 3.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell1D agoAlec Bohm has four two-out RBIs against Dylan Cease tonight, which accounts for as many runs as Cease had allowed in his past three starts combined. The Padres offense, meanwhile, has done very little against Ranger Suárez. They trail 5-0 after 5.
