  • Pirates' Ed Easley: Reassigned to minor-league camp

The Pirates reassigned Easley to minor-league camp Thursday, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

  • Cardinals' Ed Easley: Outrighted from 40-man roster

Easley was outrighted from the 40-man roster, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Easley recorded just six at-bats with the Cardinals this season, mostly finding his way on the active roster due to an injury to Yadier Molina late in the season. The 29-year-old slashed a .251/.345/.337 in 279 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis this season and will likely get an opportunity to fight for the backup catcher job in spring training, but his fantasy value will continue to be mitigated until he gains more opportunities with the major league club.
