Mets' Mitch Atkins: Picked up by Mets
Atkins had his Atlantic League contract purchased by the Mets on Wednesday and will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 31-year-old last appeared in the majors with the Orioles in 2011, and is likely nothing more than pitching depth for the depleted Mets. Atkins was pitching in the Atlantic League for the Somerset Patriots, where he had a 4.06 ERA and 59 strikeouts across 62 innings.
