Oswaldo Arcia: Finds work in indy ranks
Arcia signed a contract Wednesday with the Cleburne Railroaders of the independent American Association.
Arcia appeared in 288 MLB games with the Twins, Rays, Marlins and Padres from 2013 through 2016, but he's since bounced around between a number of foreign and independent clubs. The 30-year-old will likely first need to parlay a strong showing with Cleburne into a minor-league contract with an MLB organization before a return to the big leagues becomes a realistic possibility.

Oswaldo Arcia: Takes power to Japan
Arcia signed a one-year, $1.7 million deal with the Nippon Ham Fighters on Friday, which includes a one-year mutual option and $300,000 in incentives, Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.com reports.
Arcia has big raw power and fits the mold of a former MLB player who is able to go overseas and improve his stock. He hit .326/.410/.639 with 24 home runs in 400 plate appearances at Triple-A with the Diamondbacks last season. Unfortunately he is an awful outfield defender and has a career .235 average and 31.5 percent strikeout rate. If he is able to earn another shot in the big leagues in a year or two, it will likely be as a designated hitter.

Diamondbacks' Oswaldo Arcia: Wins organization's player of month award
Arcia was named the Diamondbacks' Minor League Player of the Month on Friday, ArizonaSports.com reports.
Arcia failed to win a roster spot with the Diamondbacks coming out of spring training, but that hasn't prevented the outfielder from raking at Reno, where he hit .367 with six home runs and 22 RBI in May. The 26-year-old is slashing .364/.422/.752 with 13 long balls overall on the season, but since Arcia isn't a member of the 40-man roster and the Diamondbacks don't have a pressing need for a corner outfielder, a promotion to the big leagues doesn't seem imminent.

Diamondbacks' Oswaldo Arcia: Sent to minor league camp
Arcia was reassigned to minor league camp Friday.
The well-traveled outfielder will suit up for his fifth organization this year on the back of his December minor league deal with the Diamondbacks. Arcia owns decent power and, at 25 years old, still has time to develop into something more than a top-side platoon player. Of course, he must refine the holes in his swing and wait for an opportunity in Arizona's outfield, which appears set without him.

Diamondbacks' Oswaldo Arcia: Joins Diamondbacks on minor league deal
Arcia agreed to a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
The Padres became the latest team to dump Arcia, releasing him in November. He struck out at a 36 percent clip in 222 plate appearances between Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Miami and San Diego in 2016. Arcia flashed notable power from the left side of the plate earlier in his career and is still just 25, so he makes for a reasonable flier for the Diamondbacks, but it's hard to imagine he'll suddenly put it together.

Arcia was designated for assignment by the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The Padres needed to clear a few spots for prospects ahead of the Rule 5 draft and Arcia was a roster casualty. He's now been dumped by four different organizations this year (Twins, Rays, Marlins, Padres). Arcia showed some promise early in his career and is just 25, but his contact woes are impossible to ignore.

Arcia is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Arcia made an embarrassing blunder in the outfield Tuesday when he allowed Mookie Betts to tag from second base and move to third when he casually fielded a shallow pop fly, so that may explain why he is starting Wednesday's game on the bench. The Padres are also facing lefty David Price, and Arcia is a career .228 hitter against southpaws, so that made the decision to sit him even easier. Jon Jay will start in right field and lead off in Arcia's place.

Arcia went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI in his second career game with the Padres.
It's been an eventful season for Arcia, who has spent time with Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Miami, and now San Diego, all over just 56 games. Over that whole span he's hitting .234 with seven home runs and 22 RBI. Don't expect much from Arcia going forward, as he will likely be displaced by one of San Diego's talented outfield prospects, Manuel Margot or Hunter Renfroe, in the coming weeks.

Arcia was claimed off waivers by the Padres on Saturday.
Arcia's eventful August continued Saturday as he will be with his third organization in eight days after being picked up by the Padres. He'll add a left-handed bat to San Diego's corner outfield group. The Padres optioned Patrick Kivlehan to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move Saturday.

Arcia was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Thursday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Arcia just joined the Marlins after being designated for assignment by the Rays a few days ago, but the Marlins became the third team to remove him from its 40-man roster this season, which frees up a spot for trade acquisition Jeff Francoeur. Arcia will be subjected to waivers once again before his next move is determined.

Just days after being DFA'd by the Rays, Arcia was scooped up by a Marlins team that was missing some left-handed power in Justin Bour's absence. Arcia has been designated for assignment twice this season alone, but at age 25, he still has some upside. In total, he's slashed an underwhelming .229/.303/.395 with six home runs and an astronomical 37.1-percent strikeout rate. He figures to be a situational hitter against right-handed pitching while with the Marlins.

Two home runs in a rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday weren't enough to save Arcia's job, as the Rays opted to effectively cut ties rather than return him to the roster. Rays' Oswaldo Arcia: Struggling at plate in rehab assignment
Arcia (elbow) is hitting .238 (5-for-21) with a triple, a homer, four RBI and a walk over his seven rehab appearances for High-A Charlotte.
The recovering slugger is still trying to find his timing at the plate, having struck out seven times over those 21 at-bats as well. After notching a hit in each of his first three games for the Stone Crabs, Arcia is just 2-for-14 since that point, with his best outing coming on Aug. 12 against Fort Myers when he went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. He's also fanned at least once in each of the last four contests. Arcia may put in a few more games in the minors before a return to the big-league club.

Rays' Oswaldo Arcia: Making first rehab appearance Wednesday
Arcia (elbow) is making his first rehab appearance for High-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The 25-year-old was placed on the 15-day DL on July 29 with a right elbow strain and begins his road back to the big league club Wednesday. Arcia is expected to make multiple appearances for the Stone Crabs before a decision on his return to the Rays is made.

Arcia (elbow) is expected to begin a rehab assignment within the next two days, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The 25-year-old outfielder has been on the shelf since late July with a strained right elbow, but he has progressed to the point to where he's ready to get back into game action. He'll start at High-A Charlotte, but it's unclear how many games he'll need to get under his belt before the Rays consider activating him. When he does return, however, he'll add a viable left-handed bat to a struggling Rays offense.
