    Wagner signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Tuesday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

    Wagner will report to Triple-A Las Vegas after accruing a 3.07 ERA and 41 strikeouts over 44 innings with Triple-A Durham in the Rays' organization prior to getting released. The 33-year-old hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2014, when he tossed 10 innings with the Blue Jays.

    Wagner signed a minor league contract with the Rays on Friday.

    Wagner is still working on his return from Tommy John surgery, so he'll return to the minors to complete his rehab process. The right-hander was a solid member of the Blue Jays bullpen in 2013 prior to getting hurt, so he could climb back to the big leagues after a bit more seasoning with Triple-A Durham.

  • Rays' Neil Wagner: Sent to Triple-A Durham as next step in comeback

    Wagner, who is working back from Tommy John surgery in August 2014, was promoted to Triple-A Durham as the next step in his rehab process, Josh Vitale of Suncoast Sports reports.

    The 32-year-old reliever allowed a hit and a run while striking out four over 5.2 innings in four appearances for High-A Charlotte. The veteran has been consistently hitting 95 mph on the radar gun, and will now take the next step against a level of hitter just shy of major league quality. Wagner last pitched in the majors for the Blue Jays in 2014, posting an 8.10 ERA across 10 innings of work without recording any decisions.

    Wagner was reassigned to minor league camp Saturday.

    The 32-year-old right-hander missed the entirety of the 2015 season as he recovered from Tommy John surgery, but his performance prior to undergoing the procedure had begun to decline. He is set to join the Rays' minor league camp but he has yet to pitch this spring.
