  • Nationals' Matt Hague: Signs minor-league deal with Nationals

Hague joined the Nationals on a minor-league deal Friday, Syracuse.com reports.

Hague spent spring training with the Mariners but was released Tuesday. The 32-year-old has appeared in 43 major-league games in his career, but none since 2015. He has a .226/.286/.262 career line in the big leagues. He'll be little more than minor-league depth for the Nationals.

  • Matt Hague: Released by Mariners

Hague was released by the Mariners on Tuesday, Mike Curto of the Tacoma Rainiers radio network reports.

Hague was hitting just .226 with a .683 OPS through 17 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, so the Mariners opted to cut him loose. The 32-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2015, when he hit .250/.400/.333 in a brief 10-game stint with the Blue Jays. He'll look to latch on elsewhere as organizational depth at the corner infield spots.

  • Mariners' Matt Hague: Headed to minor-league camp

Hague was sent to minor-league camp Sunday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Hague put up serviceable numbers in 11 spring training appearances, recording four hits and one walk in 17 plate appearances. The Mariners don't believe he's quite ready to make a big-league Opening Day roster. Hague should start the year at Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Mariners' Matt Hague: Latches on with Mariners

Hague signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday which includes an invitation to spring training.

After spending 2016 in Japan, Hague returned stateside in 2017 and spent the entire season with Triple-A Rochester. While he hit a respectable .297/.373/.416 for the Red Wings, it wasn't enough to earn him a promotion to the majors. Hague will now look to work his way back to the majors with the Mariners, though he'll more likely spend the year as organizational depth.

  • Twins' Matt Hague: Won't make 25-man roster

Hague has been told he won't make Minnesota's final 25-man roster, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Hague has had a good spring as he's hitting .359, but he'll need to prove himself in the minors after producing a .685 OPS with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan last year.

  • Twins' Matt Hague: Hot start to spring training

Hague went 1-for-2 in Wednesday's spring training loss to Pittsburgh. He's hitting .444 (4-for-9) this spring.

Hague spent 2016 in Japan but had just a .685 OPS with the Hanshin Tigers. He's a long shot to make Minnesota 25-man roster, but a strong spring could put him in consideration for a call-up if injuries strike early in the season.

  • Twins' Matt Hague: Returns to USA on minor league deal with Twins

Hague signed a minor league contract with the Twins on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training.

The 31-year-old spent 2016 in Japan, but after only producing a .685 OPS with the Hanshin Tigers, Hague decided to come back stateside to play. He's only a year removed from being the International League MVP, so he could be a cheap source of power if he can translate any of that Triple-A success to the big leagues this spring.
