  • Rob Scahill: Let go by Chicago

The Cubs released Scahill on Saturday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Scahill had been attending camp as a non-roster invitee and may have been informed that he wasn't a realistic candidate for the Opening Day bullpen. Rather than accepting an assignment to Triple-A Iowa, Scahill will presumably look to join an organization that may present an easier path to the big leagues.

  • Cubs' Rob Scahill: Signs minor-league deal with Cubs

Scahill agreed to a minor-league deal with the Cubs on Friday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Scahill spent 2018 with the White Sox but threw just five innings at the big-league level, the fewest in his seven-year career. His 5.64 ERA in 60.2 innings for Triple-A Charlotte doesn't make a good case for him earning a larger major-league role this season, though he did have a 3.23 FIP at that level, suggesting that there may still be some more good innings in the 31-year-old's arm. He'll face an uphill battle to win an Opening Day roster spot but could be called upon when injuries strike the Cubs' pen.

  • White Sox's Rob Scahill: Outrighted to Triple-A

Scahill was outrighted from the 40-man roster to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday and will become a free agent following the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Scahill spent a majority of this past year at the Triple-A level, only joining the White Sox in September once rosters expanded. In six appearances with the big-league club, he allowed three earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings of relief.

  • White Sox's Rob Scahill: Contract purchased by White Sox

Scahill had his contract selected from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Scahill signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in December and has spent the 2018 season with the Knights. The 31-year-old pitched in 18 games with the Brewers last season, posting a respectable 4.43 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 22.1 innings.

  • White Sox's Rob Scahill: Inks NRI deal with White Sox

Scahill signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox that includes an invite to spring training, Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.com reports.

A 30-year-old journeyman, Scahill has a career 3.79 ERA in 144.2 big-league innings, but he only managed a 4.43 ERA in 22.1 innings with the Brewers last season. His career 15 percent strikeout rate is pretty awful by modern reliever standards, and he actually seems to be trending in the wrong direction (10.3 percent last year). He will serve as organizational depth and likely won't sniff any high-leverage opportunities, even if he earns a call to the majors at some point.

  • Rob Scahill: Heads to free agency

    Scahill elected free agency Friday.

Scahill will become a free agent following the conclusion of the 2017 season, and will look to find a new home after spending the last year and a half with Milwaukee. During this past campaign, the reliever tossed 22.1 innings at the major-league level and posted a 4.43 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with a 10:10 K:BB.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: Sent outright to Colorado Springs

Scahill accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.

Scahill was designated for assignment Sunday, and given his struggles in the majors this season, no team was interested in obtaining his services while he was exposed to waivers. The right-hander will now move into an organizational depth role with the Sky Sox.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: Gets DFA'd by Milwaukee

The Brewers designated Scahill for assignment Sunday.

The Brewers will ship Scahill out to make room in the bullpen for Wily Peralta (calf), who was activated from the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding move. Since rejoining the big-league squad in late June, Scahill made five appearances with the Brewers, compiling a 7.71 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Assuming Scahill clears waivers, it's expected that he'll stick in the organization and report to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: Called up Friday

Scahill's contract was selected by the Brewers on Friday.

Scahill has tossed 17.2 innings for Milwaukee this season, posting a 3.57 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP during his time on the mound. The 30-year-old was cast off the 40-man roster in the middle of June and was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs after passing through waivers. He will likely only spend a few days with the Brewers, as the team is seemingly shuffling between relievers every day now.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: Outrighted to Triple-A

Scahill was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.

After being designated for assignment earlier in the week, Scahill passed through waivers untouched and will report to the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate. He held a 3.57 ERA and 5:9 K:BB through 17.2 innings with the big club this season, and will be stashed at Colorado Springs as organizational depth.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: Designated for assignment

The Brewers designated Scahill for assignment Tuesday.

With the Brewers set to play six games in five days, the team dropped Scahill from the 40-man roster to open up a spot for a sixth starter in Brandon Woodruff, who will make his MLB debut in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals. Scahill surrendered one of the 10 runs the Brewers bullpen yielded in Sunday's blowout loss to the Diamondbacks, bringing his ERA up to 3.57 over 17.2 innings with the big club. The Brewers are hoping to stash the 30-year-old at Triple-A Colorado Springs if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: Pitching better at home vs. road

Scahill has not given up a run in 7.0 innings this season at home but has allowed six runs (four earned) in 6.1 innings on the road.

Curiously, Scahill seems to have better control of his pitches on the road, where he's only walked two hitters compared to the four free passes he's handed out in Milwaukee. The six runs on the road are a little misleading as well, with only four of those being earned. The sample sizes for both home and away splits are not large enough to draw conclusions quite yet on the right-hander, but the patterns are interesting enough to keep an eye on going forward.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: Contract purchased from Triple-A

Scahill had his contract purchased from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday.

Scahill will take the spot of Tommy Milone on the roster and in the Brewers' bullpen after Milone was DFA'd earlier Monday. The 30-year-old held a 1.04 ERA and 7:1 K:BB across eight appearances (8.2 innings) with Triple-A before being called up. He spent some time in Milwaukee's bullpen last season as well, posting a 2.45 ERA across 16 appearances (18.1 innings).

Scahill was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs after clearing waivers Monday.

Scahill remains in the Brewers' organization after being DFA'd to clear room for Ehire Adrianza. After posting a 2.45 ERA over 18.1 innings for Milwaukee last season, expect the right-hander to compete for a bullpen spot come spring training.

  • Rob Scahill: Designated for assignment

Scahill was designated for assignment on Tuesday.

The righty was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for recent signing Ehire Adrianza. He posted a 3.38 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 34.2 relief innings last year, so it is likely he will draw some interest on waivers.

  • Brewers' Rob Scahill: To be recalled Monday

Scahill will be recalled from Triple-A Colorado on Monday.

Scahill will replace the struggling David Goforth in the bullpen. This season he has posted a 4.28 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 27.1 innings pitched at the Triple-A Level.

Scahill was designated for assignment on Sunday by the Pirates after compiling a 4.00 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 18 innings for Triple-A Indianapolis. After remaining on the waiver wire for several days, the Brewers scooped Scahill up on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs, where the 29-year-old will continue his 2016 campaign.

  • Pirates' Rob Scahill: Designated for assignment

Scahill was designated for assignment Sunday, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune reports.

Scahill had been serving in relief at Triple-A Indianapolis, as he was demoted June 18 after posting a 4.41 ERA with the Pirates this season. The 29-year-old will now be stripped of his spot on the 40-man roster, as the Pirates have a dire need at the catcher position, and will instead award that spot to Eric Fryer, who was claimed off waivers from St. Louis on Sunday. Scahill could elect to remain with the organization if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

  • Pirates' Rob Scahill: Optioned to Triple-A

Scahill was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Bill Brink reports.

He wasn't offering much value for the Pirates, notching a 4.41 ERA and 1.47 WHIP so far this season. Additionally, he has logged three innings of relief over the past three days and would have been unavailable for at least a day or two. He'll offer organizational bullpen depth going forward.
