Matt Gelb@MattGelb7H agoAnother strong outing tonight for Sam Aldegheri at High-A Jersey Shore. He has a 0.41 ERA in his first 22 innings with 28 K / 6 BB. The Italian-born Phillies prospect has a cool story: https://t.co/cMXqUNBpRp

Scott Lauber@ScottLauber8H agohttps://t.co/nRjvg5AGsr “It was more just routine this time, having more days’ rest, just not being as sharp.” Zack Wheeler wasn’t in sync. He still allowed one run in a #Phillies win. From @PhillyInquirer ⬇️⬇️

Scott Lauber@ScottLauber10H ago#Phillies 2, Angels 1: Zack Wheeler had to grind through five innings. The Phillies struck out 18 times. Gregory Soto walked a tightrope in the ninth inning. There was even an earthquake. But they closed a 7-3 trip and have won 13 of 16. The Phils are 21-11, best start since 2011

Todd Zolecki@ToddZolecki10H agoPhillies 2, Angels 1. Zack Wheeler isn't near his best, but he allowed only one run in five innings. Bullpen did the rest. The Phillies struck out 18 times, their most in a nine-inning game since May 6, 2018. They go 7-3 on the road trip to improve to 21-11.

Todd Zolecki@ToddZolecki11H agoMatt Strahm will pitch the sixth for the Phillies. A lot of deep counts again today for Zack Wheeler, but he leaves with a 2-1 lead: 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR, 106 pitches.

Scott Lauber@ScottLauber11H agoIt was a grind for five innings for Zack Wheeler, who gave up one run despite working many deep counts. Heavy on fastballs. Pitch count by inning: 27, 22, 25, 14, 18. Bullpen will have to get last 12 outs. #Phillies leading 2-1 in sixth, looking for a series win and a 7-3 trip.

Scott Lauber@ScottLauber12H agohttps://t.co/uZ8pomCxr2 Although Rob Thomson mostly played coy about the #Phillies' plan for Spencer Turnbull, he dropped a notable hint about an experiment that "makes some sense." From @PhillyInquirer: ⬇️⬇️

Todd Zolecki@ToddZolecki12H agoRob Thomson said the Phillies could reveal their plan for Spencer Turnbull on Friday. Could they try piggybacking him with another starter moving forward? "Absolutely." https://t.co/WkgrMFzxxL

Scott Lauber@ScottLauber14H agoA word on #Phillies lineup: To help players prepare, Rob Thomson, like most managers, plans out lineups a few days ahead. Two days ago, he told Turner he'd DH today (he has played every inning of every game at SS), Schwarber that he'd be in LF, and Rojas that he'd get a day off.
