Diaz was outrighted to High-A Inland Empire on Friday.
Diaz was designated for assignment by the Angels on Tuesday, and after clearing waivers, he'll report to the 66ers. Through seven appearances at High-A in 2018, he's accrued a 6.52 ERA and 1.74 WHIP with 14 strikeouts across nine innings.

Diaz never took the hill in Cactus League play after visa issues delayed his arrival to spring training. It probably didn't dramatically affect his chances of winning a bullpen role with the big club, as the 29-year-old was always expected to report to the Pacific Coast League to begin the season. Diaz has struggled mightily across 16 career major-league appearances to date, submitting a 9.15 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in 19.2 innings.

Angels' Dayan Diaz: Facing visa issues

Manager Mike Scioscia was unable to provide any additional information on when Diaz may make it to camp. Diaz was incorrectly recalled by the team prior to Saturday's game and needs to wait 10 days after being optioned to come back to the Astros, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Diaz will be unable to help the Astros on Saturday after the club made an error trying to regain his services. Reymin Guduan, who was optioned in a corresponding move, will still head to Triple-A Fresno since the team cannot reverse the move. Since Diaz was optioned on June 23, he still has a few days before he is allowed to come back to the major-league team.

Diaz was summoned back to the big club to replace a struggling Reymin Guduan in the bullpen. The 28-year-old has a shiny 2.16 ERA across 25 innings with Fresno this season, but he hasn't been able to find similar success in the majors, as he owns a 12.00 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in nine major-league innings in 2017.
