  • Daniel Webb: Released by White Sox

Webb was released by the White Sox on Thursday.

Webb underwent Tommy John surgery in early June, and it seems that the White Sox weren't impressed enough with his recent performance to keep him on the roster during his rehabilitation. The right-hander does have a decent history of missing bats, although his fastball velocity has been decreasing over the past few seasons, which could make it tough to sign anything beyond a minor league deal during the offseason.

  • White Sox's Daniel Webb: Recalled from Triple-A on Wednesday

Webb was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

With Miguel Gonzalez heading back to the minor leagues, the White Sox needed another arm in the bullpen, and Webb was the lucky man to get the call. Webb has been decent with the Knights to start the season, garnering two saves to go with a 3.38 ERA, but he'll likely slot into a middle-relief role with Chicago.

Webb was reassigned to minor league camp Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Webb has given up eight earned runs in 6.2 innings of Cactus League play, likely costing himself the chance to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster. He hasn't shown much promise, owning a 4.54 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 90:68 K:BB over 109 innings in 93 career major-league appearances.
