  • Travis Taijeron: Cut loose by Mets

Taijeron was released by the Mets on Thursday, Michael Mayer of Metsmerizedonline.com reports.

The 31-year-old outfielder got into 26 MLB games with the Mets in 2017, but that was his one year with action at the highest level of pro ball. He struck out over 34 percent of the time at Triple-A with the Dodgers in 2018 and with the Mets in 2019.

  • Dodgers' Travis Taijeron: Inks minors deal with Dodgers

Taijeron agreed to a minor-league deal with the Dodgers on Monday, Michael Mayer of Metsmerized reports.

Taijeron will join the Dodgers' organization after spending all of 2017 with the Mets, appearing in 26 games for the big club and 125 contests for Triple-A Las Vegas. While he held his own with the 51s, hitting .272/.383/.525 with 25 homers and 78 RBI, he struggled to a .173/.271/.269 line with the big club and was subsequently outrighted from the Mets' 40-man roster in October before declaring free agency. He'll likely open the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

  • Mets' Travis Taijeron: Outrighted from 40-man roster

Taijeron was taken off the Mets' 40-man roster Wednesday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

Taijeron only played in 26 games with the big-league club this season, slashing .173/.271/.269 with one home run and three RBI in 59 plate appearances. Moving forward, it doesn't appear as though Taijeron will play a major part in the club's future, but will continue to serve as organizational depth.

  • Mets' Travis Taijeron: Heads to bench Sunday

Taijeron is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros.

Taijeron has started four games and appeared in two others since being promoted to the big leagues Aug. 26, but with just one hit in 15 at-bats, his chances of holding down a full-time gig in September seem to have faded. The Mets will go with the newly acquired Norichika Aoki in right field Sunday, marking the veteran's second consecutive start.

  • Mets' Travis Taijeron: Making MLB debut

Taijeron will play right field and bat seventh in Saturday's game against the Nationals, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

Taijeron, who was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Saturday's game, is set to make his MLB debut as a 28-year-old. He's put together a nice season with Las Vegas, knocking 25 homers and slashing .272/.386/.525 in 125 games. If he holds his own, he could see a good amount of starts in the outfield while Michael Conforto (shoulder) and Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) remain on the shelf.

  • Mets' Travis Taijeron: Headed to majors

Taijeron was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

For the first time in his career, the 28-year-old Taijeron will have the chance to play in the big leagues. Taijeron has shown a solid mix of power and consistency with Las Vegas this season, as he's hit 25 home runs and owns a .272 batting average. He could see regular time in the Mets outfield moving forward, as Michael Conforto (shoulder) and Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) are both out for the foreseeable future.

  • Mets' Travis Taijeron: Collects one single

Taijeron went 1-for-3 against the Cubs on Friday.

The 27-year-old is batting .366/.426/.634 in 41 at-bats this spring. Taijeron hit 25 home runs at Triple-A Las Vegas last season and is fighting to earn an Opening Day spot with the major league club. The Mets will likely send him back to Las Vegas to start the season but he could work his way up to the majors if he continues his hot play from this spring.

  • Mets' Travis Taijeron: Continues big spring Thursday

Taijeron homered Thursday and is now batting .412 with seven RBI in eight spring games.

Taijeron hit 25 homers at Triple-A Las Vegas last season and has carried that power and production into the spring. He is unlikely to earn a spot on the 25-man roster, but if he keeps displaying that power, he could force his way into the equation as a right-handed bat off the bench.
