Gagne has signed a contract with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Gagne had been contemplating a comeback after pitching for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic, though the MLB appears to be a bit of a long shot for the 41-year-old. He'll get a chance to show his stuff on a smaller circuit in what will be his first professional action since 2008.

Gagne threw a bullpen session for Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt on Sunday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Gagne wasn't joking around when he said he was looking to make a return to the big leagues, throwing his first showcase for a team on Sunday. It is unclear how it went, and the 41-year-old is set to pitch in the World Baseball Classic for Team Canada, so his chances of making a team should become clearer after that.

Eric Gagne: Contemplating comeback
Gagne is seriously considering making a comeback, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
Despite not having pitched in the majors since 2008, the former Cy Young winner is apparently looking to make a return to the big leagues. He is reportedly still throwing in the low 90s, and is even offering to showcase for teams on back-to-back days to put any durability questions to rest. The 41-year-old is slated to pitch in the upcoming World Baseball Classic for Canada, and after that, it's unknown whether a team will take a flyer on him or not.
