Gabriel Ynoa: Inks deal with Tokyo
Ynoa signed a contract with the Tokyo Swallows on Thursday.
Ynoa struggled to a 5.61 ERA with a 67:26 K:BB over 110.2 innings a season ago with the Orioles, so he'll aim to resurrect his career in Tokyo. If he manages to perform well, there's certainly the possibility that he could return to Major League Baseball.

Gabriel Ynoa: Heads to open market
Ynoa cleared waivers and became a free agent Monday.
Ynoa accrued a 5.61 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 67:26 K:BB over 110.2 innings this season with Baltimore (13 starts). He'll be in search of a new team over the offseason after clearing waivers.

Orioles' Gabriel Ynoa: Falls to 1-9
Ynoa (1-9) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Thursday, giving up three earned runs on six hits over 6.1 innings, striking out one and walking none as the Orioles fell 8-4.
The 26-year-old tossed a quality start, but he still wound up taking his ninth loss of the season with Toronto striking for six runs after he left the contest. He's been pitching better lately, but it hasn't been a fantasy-relevant campaign for Ynoa, who is sporting a 5.65 ERA and 1.37 WHIP and has yielded 27 homers across 106.2 innings.

Orioles' Gabriel Ynoa: Turns in mediocre no-decision
Ynoa allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk and one strikeout across four innings during a no-decision against the Tigers on Saturday.
The 26-year-old finished an inning shy of being eligible for a win anyway, but he needed a three-run rally during the eighth to get him off the hook for the loss because of Baltimore's lack of offense early in this one. Owners can be pleased by that and his eighth straight outing of allowing two runs or fewer, but as a spot starter, Ynoa doesn't always pitch multiple innings, and even when he starts, he rarely goes more than four. That obviously limits his fantasy value. He is 1-8 with a 5.74 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 100.1 innings this season. Ynoa will start again Thursday at home against the Blue Jays.

Ynoa has started 10 games this season and appeared in a further 23 in relief. He has a 6.48 ERA as a starter and a better -- but still not good -- 5.05 ERA in relief.

Orioles' Gabriel Ynoa: Pitches well in loss
Ynoa (1-8) allowed two runs on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts across 6.1 innings while taking a loss against the Rays during the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday.
Back in the starter role because of the doubleheader, Ynoa turned in one of his best starts of the season, but the offense failed to back him up in the 2-0 loss. Homers have given Ynoa trouble all season, and once again, that was an issue Tuesday, as he gave up one solo shot. Ynoa owns a 2.1 HR/9 (22 long balls in under 100 frames). He also has a 5.72 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 59 strikeouts in 94.1 innings across 32 appearances, including 10 starts this year.

Ynoa will start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Ynoa is being referred to as a "starter" rather than an "opener," but it can't be guaranteed that he'll pitch deep into the game. He'll be pitching on five days' rest but may not be fully stretch out, as he hasn't thrown more than two innings in a game since Aug. 12.

Ynoa matched his season high with six innings when he was summoned for spot start against the Yankees on Aug. 12, but aside from working deep into the contest, there weren't many positive takeaways from the outing. He allowed four home runs -- and seven runs in total -- during the start, which wasn't enough for him to stick in the rotation over Ty Blach. Both of the runs Ynoa has surrendered since returning to the bullpen have come via the long ball, which has been a consistent problem no matter how the Orioles have deployed him this season.

Ynoa (1-7) allowed seven runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts across six innings while taking a loss in the first game of a doubleheader against the Yankees on Monday.
The right-hander came into Monday having allowed just three homers in his last 10 outings, but the Bronx Bombers got to him in the first game of a doubleheader. Ynoa had yielded just four runs in his last 14.2 innings before Monday, but with this performance, the 26-year-old's ERA shot up almost half a run. He owns a 5.93 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 50 strikeouts in 82 innings this season. Ynoa will look to rebound in his next start Sunday at the Red Sox.

Ynoa drew a start in his most recent appearance as well -- also against the Yankees -- and surrendered three earned runs across 4.2 innings while striking out two. Despite the way he's currently being utilized, Ynoa has made the majority of his appearances out of the bullpen this season, racking up a 5.57 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 47 strikeouts across 76 innings.

Ynoa allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out two over 4.2 innings Monday against the Yankees. He didn't factor into the decision.

Though he'll be making his first start since June 30, Ynoa isn't expected to work deep into the outing with the Orioles treating the series opener as a bullpen game. Since being bumped from the rotation just over a month ago, Ynoa has posted a 3.92 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across eight relief appearances spanning 20.2 innings. He hasn't worked more than three innings or tossed more than 34 pitches since July 17.

Orioles' Gabriel Ynoa: Records first win
Ynoa (1-6) picked up the win in Wednesday's 9-2 victory over the Nationals, giving up one run on two hits over 4.1 innings of relief. He struck out two.
Aaron Brooks got the start, but he lasted only 2.2 innings and 56 pitches as he continues to get stretched out. That left Ynoa to handle a bulk reliever role and get rewarded when the O's offense caught fire late in the game. The right-hander's 6.31 ERA and 38:18 K:BB through 61.1 innings make him a fantasy afterthought regardless of how he gets deployed, however.

This was easily Ynoa's best start of the season, but he unfortunately was matched up against the unstoppable Indians starter Shane Bieber, who threw eight shutout frames. This outing is definitely encouraging, but even including Sunday's start, Ynoa is 0-4 with a 8.50 ERA in his last four appearances. Overall, he is 0-6 with a 6.22 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 50.2 innings this season. Ynoa will start next in Toronto on Saturday.

Ynoa (0-5) allowed seven runs on five hits and three walks across 2.1 innings to take the loss Sunday against the Mariners. He did not record a strikeout.
Ynoa allowed singular runs in the first and second innings before collapsing in the third, when he surrendered five runs on two hits and three walks while only recording one out. He was touched up for six earned runs in his previous outing and now owns an unsightly 6.75 ERA for the season. Ynoa will need to improve his performance if he's to maintain his spot in the rotation, and his next opportunity will come at home against Cleveland.

Ynoa (0-4) took the loss in Tuesday's 16-2 rout at the hands of the A's, coughing up six runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 5.1 innings while striking out two.
A 10-run sixth inning accounted for most of the damage, as Oakland sent 13 batters to the plate, slugged three of its six homers on the night, and chased Ynoa from the game. The right-hander has been taken deep multiple times in three straight starts, and he'll carry a 5.65 ERA and 31:13 K:BB through 43 innings into his next outing Sunday in Seattle.

Ynoa (0-3) allowed three runs on seven hits and no walks across five innings while taking the loss Thursday against the Blue Jays. He recorded one strikeout.
Ynoa pitched admirably through five innings, allowing just a pair of runs while keeping his team in the game. He came back out for the sixth but was removed after allowing a solo home run to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to lead off the frame. While his 5.02 ERA leaves much to be desired, Ynoa has been better of late, going five or more innings while allowing three runs or fewer in three straight outings. He'll presumably pitch next on the road against the Athletics.

Ynoa gave up all three of his runs via the home-run ball, surrendering a solo blast and a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Despite this, he did register a quality start, his first of the season. Ynoa has posted a 4.96 ERA with 28 strikeouts across 32.2 innings this season, though he's only been in the starting rotation since May 27.

Orioles' Gabriel Ynoa: Takes loss
Ynoa (0-2) allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out four across five innings to take the loss Sunday against the Giants.
Ynoa got through three clean innings before allowing both of his earned runs in the fourth frame. He also ran into trouble in the fifth, walking the leadoff batter and surrendering a ground-rule double to the fifth batter of the inning, though the runs were unearned after an error by Stevie Wilkerson. Despite uninspiring overall numbers, Ynoa generated 14 swinging strikes and began 18 of the 22 batters he faced with a strike. He'll look to bounce back in his next start but will face a tough matchup at Houston on Friday.
