  • Hyun Soo Kim: Returns to Korea

Kim signed a four-year, $10.58 million deal to return to Korea and play for the LG Twins of the KBO, Sports Seoul reports.

The 29-year-old outfielder was 20 percent better than league average (120 wRC+) in 346 plate appearances, almost exclusively against righties, in 2016 with the Orioles. However, he was much, much worse (61 wRC+) in 239 plate appearances split between the Orioles and Phillies last season. Given the length of the deal, he can be forgotten in almost all dynasty formats.

  • Phillies' Hyun Soo Kim: Two hits Tuesday

Kim started in left field Tuesday and went 2-for-5 with a run scored in a 9-1 win over the Mets.

Kim has started four straight games, but his playing time is going to dry up soon with Aaron Altherr (hamstring) aiming to return this week. The 29-year-old has hit .236/.304/.306 since coming over to the Phillies as part of the Jeremy Hellickson trade.

  • Phillies' Hyun Soo Kim: Starts third straight game Thursday

Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Angels.

Kim has started three straight games as a couple of the Phillies' regular outfielders are missing time and the club had the DH available. His playing time should start to dry up once the outfield gets back to full health and the team returns to National League play Friday.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Dealt to Phillies

Kim was traded to the Phillies, along with minor-leaguer Garrett Cleavinger and international signing bonus slots, for Jeremy Hellickson and cash considerations Friday, Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.com reports.

The 29-year-old has shown flashes of productiveness over the past two seasons with the Orioles, but could never really break through for a major role in left field, ultimately being phased out in favor of Trey Mancini. Nonetheless, with Howie Kendrick traded by Philadelphia in a separate move Friday, Kim may get a legitimate shot at an everyday starting role prior to becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The lefty is slashing just .2332/.305/.288 with a -0.4 WAR through 56 games, so he'll need to show some improvement before becoming fantasy-worthy.

  • Phillies' Hyun Soo Kim: Will be used in bench role

GM Matt Klentak said Kim will likely be used as a bench player, Gordie Jones of CSN Philadelphia reports.

Kim is a free agent after the season, so the Phillies have little to gain by giving him at-bats at the expense of their young outfielders. Odubel Herrera, Aaron Altherr and Nick Williams should start in the outfield most nights moving forward unless the Phillies opt to add one more of their young outfielders to the mix. Kim will have his playing time sprinkled in to give the other players an occasional day off.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Takes seat Saturday in Minnesota

Kim is not in Saturday's lineup against Minnesota.

Joey Rickard will get his first start of the series with left-hander Adalberto Mejia on the hill. Kim has struggled of late, managing just five hits over his last 33 at-bats (.152) while striking out 12 times dating back to June 17.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Heads to bench Friday

Kim is not in the lineup Friday against the Rays.

Kim is just 2-for-20 (.100) at the plate over his last eight games, so he'll get a second straight day off as he looks to clear his head. Joey Rickard will start in right field in his place.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Out of lineup again Saturday

Kim is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rays.

This marks the third straight game that Kim will ride the bench while Joey Rickard gets the start in left. Kim earned an at-bat during Friday's game, but struck out when he came in to pinch hit. Although Kim has been struggling at the plate, in the past he would typically start against right-handed pitching. With Jake Odorizzi (a right-hander) on the mound Saturday for Tampa Bay, the Orioles appear to be riding Rickard's hot bat instead.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Out versus left-hander Thursday

Kim is not in Thursday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

With southpaw J.A. Happ on the mound for Toronto, Kim will get the day off in favor of Joey Rickard. Since June 18, Kim has only recorded two hits in 20 at-bats, but has steadily been the starting left fielder for Baltimore this season. Expect him to be back in the lineup Friday against right-hander Jacob Faria and the Rays.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Sitting due to platoon disadvantage Thursday

Kim is not in the Orioles' lineup Thursday against the White Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Joey Rickard will lead off for the O's against White Sox left-hander David Holmberg, who's been surprisingly effective against left-handed bats. Despite a clearer avenue to playing time with Chris Davis (oblique) on the 10-day disbaled list and Trey Mancini sliding from left field to first base, Kim will be stuck in this particular arrangement until Davis returns, likely sometime in July. It's tough to get excited about Kim in mixed leagues unless he can be deployed as a head-to-head matchup play vs. righties in deeper formats with daily transactions.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Handling leadoff duties Wednesday

Kim will start in left field and man the leadoff spot Wednesday against the White Sox, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.

After entering the season as the favorite to fill the larger portion of a platoon in left field, Kim has mostly become an afterthought with rookie Trey Mancini emerging as manager Buck Showalter's preferred option in that spot. However, with Chris Davis (oblique) hitting the 10-day disabled list Wednesday, it's expected that Mancini will now see most of his starts at first base, potentially opening up more at-bats for Kim in the outfield. Showalter will give an opportunity to the Korean import to prove himself in a table-setting role Wednesday with Seth Smith getting the night off, but look for Kim to occupy a lower spot in the lineup in subsequent starts.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Losing ground to rookie outfielder

Kim is hitting .246 in 61 at-bats with three extra-base hits and three RBI this season.

After batting .302 last season, Kim has lost most of his playing time to rookie Trey Mancini, and the lack of consistent at-bats has led Kim's stats to drop to .246/.333/.328 on the season. As a left-handed hitter, he continues to draw some starts against right-handed pitching over the right-handed bat of Mancini, but it doesn't appear Kim will gain back his playing time unless he can return to his offensive form from last year.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Sitting out Wednesday

Kim is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Nationals, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.

The Orioles won't have a DH spot available the next two games as they finish off a home-and-home series with the Nationals, so it's not expected that Kim will be included in the lineup Thursday either as the team looks to make room for Mark Trumbo's powerful bat in the outfield. Even if the Orioles were playing in an American League park and facing a right-handed starter, it's not a given that Kim would be included in the lineup, as manager Buck Showalter acknowledged earlier in the week that rookie Trey Mancini has cut into Kim's playing time. The lack of regular at-bats seems to be taking its toll on Kim, who is slashing just .227/.306/.381 on the season.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Quickly losing ground to Mancini

Kim's decreased playing time has nothing to do with his own performance, but rather the impressive (and unexpected) production of Trey Mancini, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Manager Buck Showalter said that benching Kim has been "probably one of, if not the, most difficult thing" for him to manage this season. Mancini (.296/.320/.648) has seven home runs and 20 RBI through his first 20 games, completely dominating Kim's .227/.306/.318 performance over 19 contests. Kim should continue to see at-bats in a platoon role for now, but it's becoming clear that the 29-year-old is being faded from Showalter's routine plans.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Out again Tuesday

Kim is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals.

Kim will take a seat for the seventh time in the last nine games as Trey Mancini gets the start in left field. Kim is slashing just .227/.306/.318 through 16 games this season and, as a result, the 29-year-old has seen his playing time against right-handed pitchers (or, his only playing time) take a dip.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Takes seat Monday

Kim is not in the lineup Monday against the Nationals.

As expected, with the Nationals sending out southpaw Gio Gonzalez, Kim will head to the bench. Joey Rickard will draw the start in left field.

  • Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Kim is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.

He will sit four a fourth straight game, although three of those contests have come against left-handed starters, and Kim never starts against southpaws. Trey Mancini will get the start in left field and hit seventh.
