  • Dae-Ho Lee: Returns to Korean baseball

Lee agreed to a deal with the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.

Lee's major league career was very short-lived. In one season with the Mariners, the first baseman hit .253 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI over 104 games played. At 34 years old, a future return to the MLB seems unlikely.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Back to beating up on lefties

Lee went 2-for-3 with a homer -- his first since July 31 -- a walk and two runs in Thursday's win over Texas.

Since coming back from a brief stint in the minors, Lee's been on fire -- he's 13-for-33 (.394) with eight RBI in nine games, although this was obviously his first long ball in that span. Hitting lefties is Lee's specialty, and he did it again Thursday with the second-inning homer against Rangers southpaw Derek Holland. Expect the Korean slugger to continue starting against lefties for the remainder of the season.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Recalled by Mariners

Lee was recalled by the Mariners on Saturday and will bat seventh in the order against the White Sox, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Lee rejoins the Mariners to take Tom Wilhelmson's roster spot after the reliever was placed on the DL with a back injury. He'll immediately rejoin the lineup Saturday, batting seventh and playing first base. Lee slashed just .246/.308/.440 with 13 home runs prior to being sent down, but he tore it up at Triple-A to the tune of a .519/.552/.889 slash line in seven games at Tacoma.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Could be recalled Saturday

Lee could be recalled Saturday from Triple-A Tacoma, as the Mariners are scheduled to face a string of left-handed pitchers the next couple weeks, the Seattle Times reports.

If the Mariners put Tom Wilhelmsen on the DL, Lee will be brought back to add a right-handed bat to the bench. Lee was sent down last week after losing his way at the plate. But he's seems to be finding his stroke once again. In six games at Tacoma, Lee is 12-for-24 with three doubles, two homers and six RBI. Lee can only be brought back now as an injury replacement. Otherwise, he has to serve the 10-day minimum on a demotion to the minor leagues.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Expected to return to Seattle in September

Lee, who was demoted to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, is expected to be recalled when rosters expand Sept. 1, the Seattle Times reports.

Lee batted an abysmal .109/.246/.200 after the All-Star break. and he said he lost his timing at the plate, so the Mariners sent him down to play every day and, hopefully, get his timing back. Stefen Romero will handle the right side of the platoon at first base with lefty Adam Lind.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Optioned to Triple-A Friday

Lee was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

The decision to option Lee was made subsequently to the team recalling outfielder Stefen Romero from Tacoma. The 34-year-old veteran was slashing just .109/.246/.200 since the All-Star break.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Out of lineup Tuesday

Lee is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Tuesday's absence marks Lee's second straight and fourth in the team's last five games against opposing right-handed starters. Lee was hitting right-handers even better than he was hitting lefties early on but he's struggled mightily overall since the All-Star break (.115/.246/.212), and it seems he may start primarily against lefties for the time being.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: On base thrice in Sunday loss

Lee hit a two-run homer and walked twice in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss at the Cubs.

It was his 13th homer of the season, but his first since July 6, as Lee has slumped since the All-Star break. He entered with one hit in his previous 25 at-bats. Still, Lee will continue to start against left-handers in a platoon with Adam Lind at first base.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Returns to lineup Friday

Lee (hand) is back in the lineup Friday against the Astros, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

A right hand contusion forced Lee from Saturday's game and kept him on the bench for the first-half finale, but he will slot back in Friday against right-hander Doug Fister. Lee began the year on the short end of a platoon but has hit right-handers (.859 OPS) even better than he's hit lefties (.829 OPS), and it seems he's now locked into a near-everyday role at first base.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Leaves Saturday with injured hand

Lee left Saturday's game after two at-bats because of a contusion in his right hand, the Seattle Times reports.

The ailment apparently has bothered him the past week. He'll miss Sunday's game, but he said he is confident he'll be available Friday after resting over the All-Star break.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Not in Friday's lineup

Lee is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Lee has started the past four games for the Mariners and will get a regular day off Friday. Adam Lind will start at first base in his place, while batting sixth. Lee has been hitting the ball well during the beginning of July, going 8-for-23 from the plate with two home runs and five RBI this month.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Out of Sunday's lineup

Lee is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles.

Lee had started each of the previous 10 games with the Mariners making a more concerted effort to give the slugging first baseman full-time duties in light of his surging performance. While he'll be rested Sunday, Lee has slashed .297/.366/.432 over those 10 games, so don't expect manager Scott Servais to frequently keep him on the bench while he's running hot.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Hits 11th HR as playing time increases

Lee went 3-for-4 with a double and his 11th home run of the season Friday.

Lee has started nine consecutive games, six of which, like Friday, have come against right-handed pitchers. With Nori Aoki at Triple-A, the preferred lineup against righties has been Lee at first base, Adam Lind -- Lee's usual platoon partner -- at DH and Nelson Cruz in right field. Against left-handers, Lind sits and Cruz goes to DH. Lee is 7-for-23 (.304) in his last nine games against right-handers, though Friday's extra-base hits were his first in that span off righties. This season, five of his 11 homers have come off right-handers, and he actually has a higher OPS (.901 vs. .828) vs. righties.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Settling into everyday role

Lee will start at first base and bat sixth in the order Sunday against the Cardinals, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports. It's Lee's fifth start in a row at that position.

Lee entered the campaign in a platoon with Adam Lind at first base, but the Korean slugger's success throughout the first half of the season has earned him steady at-bats of late regardless of who is pitching for the opposition. Two of his five starts during that stretch have come against right-handed pitching, as manager Scott Servais has simply slotted Lind in at DH in those games. It looks like Lee will continue to play regularly until his bat cools down.

  • Mariners' Dae-Ho Lee: Will make fourth start in five games Sunday

Lee will start at first base and bat fifth in the order Sunday against the Red Sox.

This will mark Lee's fourth start in the last five games, but fantasy owners shouldn't necessarily expect the trend to continue. The Mariners have run into a spate of left-handed starting pitchers of late, so Lee's run of opportunities should dwindle once more right-handed pitchers show up on the docket. Lee remains locked into the short end of a platoon at first base with Adam Lind.
