Weeks (shoulder) was let go by Arizona on Friday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports. It's been a rough week for Weeks, who underwent season-ending surgery Monday. The Diamondbacks, who had him in camp as merely a non-roster invitee, didn't feel the need to pay him while he recovers. Diamondbacks' Drew Weeks: Undergoes season-ending surgery
Weeks will miss the entirety of the 2021 season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery Monday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports. Weeks was merely in camp as a non-roster invitee, so he was a long shot to make the team even if healthy. Diamondbacks' Drew Weeks: Signs with Arizona
Weeks signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Monday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports. Weeks is heading into his age-28 season and is yet to make his big-league debut, so he's unlikely to make a significant impact this season.
