Chris Bosh's NBA career is in serious jeopardy after failing his physical with the Miami Heat this week. There are reports he won't fight the results of that physical, but Bosh also says the results don't change his intentions.

However, there's more than the development of more blood clots with Bosh which could limit his ability to get back on the court. CBS Sports' Ethan Skolnick reports that Bosh has also suffered new corresponding muscle weakness. Whether this is connected to the clotting issue directly or as a result of perhaps his not being able to train properly in unclear, though Bosh did post videos earlier this month of him working out.

That muscle weakness is something he could work through, presumably, but it will at least further delay any return even if Bosh is able to be cleared by team doctors. Either way, the path for Chris Bosh to return to the court is going to take significantly longer than some, including Bosh, might have expected. He'd have to recover that strength, and then get his conditioning back to a level to where he could compete.

Still, Bosh has clearly kept in shape during his time out, and remains very serious about his intentions to return to the court, for now at least. If he is somehow able to overcome what are very serious and life-threatening (should he play) issues, Bosh will still face a long road back. This is not a standard health issue, and its impact on Bosh, the Heat and the NBA continue to ripple.
