What's one more bounce for a player who has been practically everywhere?
The Indiana Pacers have agreed to sign free agent guard Blake Ahearn to a training camp contract, according to HoopsHype.com. The deal is reportedly a typical training camp contract but does include some guaranteed money. The Salt Lake Tribune confirmed the agreement.
Ahearn, 28, has appeared in just 19 total NBA games for three teams in an NBA career that dates back to 2007-08. He caught on with the Utah Jazz last season thanks to a 10-day contract, but only appeared in four games. In between his NBA stints, Ahearn's career has taken him to Spain, Italy and multiple stops in the D-League. He became the D-League's all-time leading scorer back in January.
There don't figure to be many minutes available in Indiana's backcourt. The Pacers re-signed George Hill to a long-term extension and signed D.J. Augustin as a free agent. Paul George, free agent signing Gerald Green, Lance Stephenson and rookie Orlando Johnson fill out the backcourt rotation. Scoring guard Leandro Barbosa, acquired from the Toronto Raptors in a trade deadline move, remains an unsigned free agent.
Ahearn holds NBA career averages of 4.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
