Iverson leaves Grizz for personal issue
Allen Iverson, SG MEM
News: The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that Grizzlies G Allen Iverson has left the team for personal reasons. Iverson met with team owner Michael Heisley on Friday after Memphis lost to the Lakers and again on Saturday morning. It is unknown when Iverson will return to the team.
Analysis: Iverson has played in three games for Memphis so far, coming off the bench in all three instances since returning from a hamstring injury. He made it quite clear that he was unhappy with his role with the team as a bench player. Iverson has averaged 12.3 points, 3.7 assists, 2.3 turnovers in 22 minutes so far this year. Iverson is too risky of a player for Fantasy Week 3 (Nov. 9-15), so leave him out of your lineup for the upcoming scoring period unless there is word that he will be back for Tuesday against Portland. When active and with the team, Iverson was a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy option. It's hard to say what his value will be in the future considering his situation in Memphis. Profile
Prince out indefinitely
Tayshaun Prince, SF DET
News: The Pistons say forward Tayshaun Prince will be out of the lineup indefinitely due to a small rupture of a disc in his lower back. The team said Saturday that the injury was confirmed following an MRI exam and evaluation by team doctors this week. The Pistons say Prince will continue to receive treatment for the injury. Prince had been sidelined since earlier this month with a back injury.
Analysis: The 6-foot-9 Prince has appeared in three games this season averaging 12.3 points, 5 rebounds and 2.3 assists. There is no telling when he'll be back in the lineup now so the best you can do is reserve him and continue to follow the story. He has No. 3 Fantasy appeal, when healthy. Profile
Douglas-Roberts has swine flu
Chris Douglas-Roberts, SG NJ
News: The New Jersey Nets say forward Chris Douglas-Roberts has swine flu. Douglas-Roberts already had been sidelined with flu-like symptoms. Nets president Rod Thorn confirmed on Saturday that Douglas-Roberts tested positive for the H1N1 virus. Thorn says the player has been treated and the Nets are following all precautionary measures called for by the NBA. The diagnosis is the latest blow to a team that has been hit by a wave of injuries. The Nets are the only team in the league without a victory and at 0-6 are off to the worst start in franchise history.
Analysis: Douglas-Roberts has been averaging 15.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in five games. There is now a league policy when you have flu-like symptoms due to the H1N1 scare that states a player has got to be isolated for a certain amount of time. The league mandates that a player be quarantined for 24 hours. At this point, it seems he'll be a risky play in Week 3 (Nov. 9-15) as well. Profile
Parker sprains ankle against Portland
Tony Parker, PG SA
News: Spurs PG Tony Parker injured his ankle on Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers. Parker scored four points on 1 of 4 shooting over 11:25 on the court before spraining the ankle. With 2:36 left in the first half, Parker appeared to come down awkwardly, called timeout and left the floor for the locker room. He did not return.
Analysis: Parker is averaging 14.8 points per game this season and had scored at least 21 points in his previous two games before the injury. His assist numbers could be a bit higher but he remains worth starting at all times in Fantasy. That said, Parker becomes a big Fantasy injury risk for Week 3 (Nov. 9-15). Profile
Lee sits with strained groin
Courtney Lee, SG NJ
News: Nets SG Courntey Lee was held out of Saturday's game against the Celtics due to a groin strain he suffered on Friday at Philadelphia. He is considered questionable for Wednesday against the Sixers.
Analysis: Lee's injury is not expected to be too serious, but Fantasy owners certainly need to weight their options for Week 3 (Nov. 9-15). Lee is a decent contributor for the team in his first season with the Nets, averaging 11.8 points per game and 2.2 assists. He is certainly an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period and is just a low-end option to begin with. Thbe safe play is to bench him. Profile
Billups bounces back from stinker
Chauncey Billups, PG DEN
News: Denver PG Chauncey Billups rebounded from a poor performance at Miami on Friday with a 27-point game on Saturday at Atlanta. He went 2 for 7 from the field on Friday against the Heat but was 10 for 22 against the Hawks, adding seven assists, two steals and three rebounds.
Analysis: Billups has averaged 18.2 points per game over his past five games, adding 5.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds. He will typically reach at least 20 points per game and add about five rebounds. Think of him as a must-start Fantasy option in all formats. Profile
Leg keeps Martin out at Atlanta
Kenyon Martin, PF DEN
News: The Denver Post reports that Nuggets F Kenyon Martin has been held out of the team's game at Atlanta on Saturday with a leg contusion and will have an MRI on the leg Saturday. "The feeling I got is, it might be a week or two weeks, but it won't be the whole year," coach George Karl said.
Analysis: Martin has dealt with plenty of injuries in his career and has struggled to stay healthy for much of the past few seasons. He is averaging 10.0 points and 6.3 rebounds in six games. Martin is a No. 4 Fantasy option when healthy but will probably need to be benched for Week 3 (Nov. 9-15). Profile
Thomas remains out vs. Raptors
Tim Thomas, PF DAL
News: Dallas PF Tim Thomas continued to recover from offseason knee surgery on the bench as he did not play on Saturday against the Raptors. He is day to day.
Analysis: Thomas will have a role in the Mavericks' rotation when he returns, but his minutes and production will be inconsistent. He's not worth stashing outside of the deepest of leagues and should remain inactive for Week 3 (Nov. 9-15). Profile
Thomas has surgery on forearm
Tyrus Thomas, PF CHI
News: Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas had surgery on his left forearm Saturday, a day after he broke it during a weight-training session. Coach Vinny Del Negro says the operation went well and that Thomas will be re-evaluated Tuesday. Thomas is expected to miss four to six weeks, leaving the Bulls with just 10 healthy players.
Analysis: Thomas' absence could create an opportunity for rookie James Johnson, who had appeared in just one of the first five games. Del Negro says the Bulls also are discussing whether to sign another player. Thomas is averaging 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds. Think about picking up Johnson or Taj Gibson as the two could fill Thomas' void. When healthy, Thomas is a No. 4 Fantasy option. Profile
Ross still out with back injury
Quinton Ross, SF DAL
News: Mavericks SG Quinton Ross missed Saturday's game against the Reptors with a bruised lower back. He's day to day.
Analysis: Ross had been serving as a placeholder in the starting lineup for Josh Howard, but Howard made his return to the lineup on Saturday. He doesn't actually offer anything statistically and should remain on waivers in Fantasy. Profile
Gooden still sitting vs. Toronto
Drew Gooden, PF DAL
News: Dallas PF Drew Gooden (ribs) missed his fourth straight game with a strained rib cage Saturday against the Raptors. He's day to day.
Analysis: Gooden has made only one of 10 shots from the floor and averaged 3.0 rebounds during his first two games with the Mavericks. Coming off the bench, he likely won't make a consistent enough contribution to matter in most Fantasy formats. He should remain out of all lineups for Week 3 (Nov. 9-15) as there's a good shot he will remain out on Tuesday against Houston. Profile
Evans still out with foot injury
Reggie Evans, PF TOR
News: Toronto PF Reggie Evans (foot) remained out on Saturday for the Raptors' game against the Mavericks. He is day to day.
Analysis: Evans gives the Raptors some rebounding help off the bench, but he likely won't get enough minutes to make an impact in Fantasy. Ignore him in Fantasy play for now. Profile
Banks remains down with the flu
Marcus Banks, PG TOR
News: Toronto PG Marcus Banks (flu) sat out on Saturday at Dallas. He remains questionable for Tuesday at San Antonio.
Analysis: Banks averaged 2.5 points and 1.3 assists last season before suffering a season-ending injury. He is not a player that we recommend owning in any format as he may not be activated even after recovering from the flu. Profile
Hayes remains out vs. Celtics
Jarvis Hayes, SF NJ
News: Nets G/F Jarvis Hayes missed his sixth straight game with a hamstring injury Saturday against the Celtics. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Hayes is a decent scorer off the bench, but his output is too inconsistent for him to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers. Profile
Dooling sits out with hip injury
Keyon Dooling, PG NJ
News: Nets PG Keyon Dooling missed Saturday's game against the Celtics as he continues to rehab his surgically repaired hip. He has missed all seven games this season.
Analysis: Even when he returns, Dooling won't see enough minutes off the bench to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers. Profile
Battie still out with knee injury
Tony Battie, PF NJ
News: Nets PF Tony Battie missed his seventh straight game with a knee injury Saturday against the Celtics. He has yet to play this season.
Analysis: Battie will play just a small role off the bench when he returns. Don't bother with him in Fantasy. Profile
