Sorry Ken Holland, it still doesn't look like the NHL is getting any closer to a 3-on-3 session in overtime.
The NHL General Managers are having their annual meetings in Del Boca Vista Boca Raton, Fla., to discuss the big issues in the game. Holland, the Red Wings GM, has been on a mission for a while now to decrease the number of shootouts by suggesting a few minutes of 3-on-3 in an extended overtime.
Other GMs aren't so inclined. Holland said there is very little appetite for his idea but that there is some interest in a couple of very minor tweaks to overtime.

Again, they are minor suggestions, but the long change is simple enough and makes too much sense that it should be put in place tomorrow. By making it harder for teams to change players the likelihood of getting tired players stuck on the ice and thus having goals against rises. Second periods in the NHL bear this out. Not by much, but it would make a difference.
The overtime issue wasn't all that the GMs discussed on Day 1, though. Also on the table was the always tricky goalie interference as well as expanding video review and the possibility of coach's challenges.
As of now it doesn't sound like the challenges is getting a whole lot more traction than 3-on-3.
Also very little consensus on how to expand video review. Whats included, who reviews, etc. Was a focus at last years meetings too. #Glacial
