Goalies can't stop Jack Eichel's shots, and maybe that goes for nets, too. (@SabreTalk)

The legend of Jack Eichel continues to grow at Sabres Development Camp this week.

Buffalo’s pick at No. 2 overall is being touted as the player that will lead the Sabres out of their rebuild and help the team compete for its first Stanley Cup. No pressure or anything, there.

The optimism in Buffalo is palpable, though. Heck, the Sabres got 17,000-plus people to pay $10 to watch a prospects scrimmage, for crying out loud. Again, no pressure, kid.

But Eichel has done a lot of impressive things so far in camp. Unfortunately, he didn’t really do any of them during that aforementioned prospects scrimmage. But during practice drills and even during Sunday’s 3-on-3 tournament, the No. 2 overall pick really showed off everything from some nasty stickhandling moves to his quick (and apparently powerful) wrist shot.

In fact, during one 3-on-3 game Sunday, Eichel shot the puck hard enough that it went past the goalie and through the net.

Take a look:

Yep, sure looks like that went right through.

Now that might be one of the practice nets and those things get pretty beat up and worn down, unlike NHL game nets that are meticulously maintained. That said, they’re still really hard to actually shoot a puck through. That it was Eichel who shot it, well, the kid didn’t really need any more help winning the fans over. Won't hurt, though.

Maybe this isn’t at the level of Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez tearing the cover off the ball, but Sabres fans have plenty of reason to be excited about Eichel and the new era upon them in Buffalo.
