  • Alex Grant: Staying in KHL

Grant signed a new two-year contract with Helsinki Jokerit (KHL) on Thursday.

Grant racked up 13 goals and 23 helpers in 57 games for Jokerit last season. Selected by the Penguins in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Draft, the 30-year-old saw action in just seven NHL games with Anaheim and Arizona, with the most recent coming during the 2015-16 campaign. If his strong showing last season didn't earn him a look from an NHL club, the blueliner is unlikely to make his way back into the league at this point and figures to close out his career overseas.

  • Alex Grant: Headed for KHL

Grant inked a one-year deal with Helsinki Jokerit (KHL) on Friday.

Grant's lone call-up came as part of the Wild's Black Aces, as he spent the year in the minors with AHL Iowa. A product of the QMJHL, the 29-year-old has made just seven NHL appearances (with Anaheim and Arizona) after being taking in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Draft by Pittsburgh. The defender would likely need to have an outstanding campaign with Jokerit in order to earn another NHL deal in the future.

  • Wild's Alex Grant: Waived by Wild

Minnesota waived Grant on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

The 28-year-old blueliner has only appeared in seven NHL contests since he was drafted in the fourth round by the Penguins in 2007, so the chances of him ever holding a regular spot in an NHL club's lineup are virtually nonexistent. He'll likely spend the entirety of the 2017-18 campaign in the minors.

  • Wild's Alex Grant: Signs one-year contract

Grant inked a one-year, two-way deal with Minnesota on Saturday.

Grant was selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Draft by Pittsburgh, but failed to suit up for the Penguins. The blueliner has seven NHL games under his belt -- with Anaheim and Arizona -- but spent all of 2016-17 with AHL Providence. While in the minors last year, the 28-year-old recorded 17 goals and 32 helpers on his way to a career-high 49 points. Fantasy owners in deeper leagues may want to give the Nova Scotia native a look as he could compete for a spot in the lineup sooner rather than later.
