Jonas Gustavsson: Announces retirement
Gustavsson will hang up his skates and call it a career, Steven Ellis of The Hockey Writers reports.
Gustavsson spent the past three seasons playing in Sweden for Linkopings HC, registering a 47-52 record and .917 save percentage. Over the course of his eight-year NHL career, the netminder played for Toronto, Detroit, Boston and Edmonton, in which he went 72-67-23 with a .901 save percentage and 2.88 GAA.

Oilers' Jonas Gustavsson: Heading to Sweden
Gustavsson has agreed to a three-year deal with Linkoping of the Swedish Hockey League, TVA Sports reports.
The goaltender will head back to his native country after seeing his NHL production and playing time go down in the last few years. Before being sent down to the minors this season, he played in seven games, earning an .878 save percentage and 3.10 GAA.

Oilers' Jonas Gustavsson: Heads to AHL affiliate Wednesday
The Oilers assigned Gustavsson to AHL Bakersfield on Wednesday.
Gustavsson's fantasy impact has been minimal of late, as he's gone 0-2-1 with a 3.96 GAA and .852 save percentage since the start of December. In a corresponding roster move, Laurent Brossoit was called up from the minors to serve as Cam Talbot's backup.

Oilers' Jonas Gustavsson: Will serve as backup
Gustavsson will be on the bench for Tuesday's meeting with San Jose, Jason Gregor of TSN 1260 reports.
Despite placing him on waivers, the Oilers have decided to keep Gustavsson on the 23-man roster for the time being. Now that he's cleared waivers, they can freely move the netminder between the NHL and AHL in the future, so while he may be with the big club for now, don't be surprised if he gets sent down soon.

Gus got the ax from the Oilers on Monday, but he could wind up with AHL Bakersfield now that he's passed through waivers untouched. Gustavsson has only appeared in seven NHL games with a 3.10 GAA and .878 save percentage, and his likely assignment to the minors leaves his fantasy value essentially nil.

The backup goalie has an .878 save percentage and 3.10 GAA, so it makes sense that the Oilers waived him. With numbers like those, it seems unlikely that any other team would want to claim Gustavsson, so expect him to clear and head to AHL Bakersfield.

Oilers' Jonas Gustavsson: Suffers tough loss Sunday
Gustavsson gave up four goals on 17 shots in Sunday's loss to the Senators.
Not a great night for Gustavsson, who was heavily outplayed by Ottawa goaltender Mike Condon. He hadn't started a game in a month and Sunday's performance shows the reasoning behind that. With the defeat, Gustavsson is now 1-3-1 on the season with a .878 save percentage. He's barely seen any action behind Cam Talbot this season and his ten goals allowed in his last two starts certainly won't do anything to change that.

Gustavsson last saw action in the crease Dec. 8, but will get a chance to slot back in for the team's second game of a back-to-back set Saturday and Sunday. He surrendered six goals on 31 shots in his last outing and owns subpar numbers in the crease overall this season, posting a 2.90 GAA and .893 save percentage in six appearances. He will look to better those stats Sunday against an Ottawa club that notched 2.92 goals per game in December, but the opposition rides a four-game losing streak into Sunday's matchup.

Oilers' Jonas Gustavsson: Beaten six times in loss to Flyers
Gustavsson was battered for six goals on 31 shots in Thursday's loss to Philadelphia.
This was a real seesaw game and easily Gustavsson's worst appearance in limited work this year. The Oilers went up 2-0, only to see the Swedish netminder give up three goals in a span of 2:12 during the second period. They stormed back with three straight goals of their own to go back up 5-3 -- but then Gustavsson gave up the game's final three goals, including Michael Raffl's game-winner with 1:29 left. He hasn't seen much work in a backup role behind Cam Talbot, and this outing certainly won't change that.

Gustavsson has been solid in limited action this season, posting a 1-1-1 record with a 2.00 GAA and .923 save percentage over five appearances. The veteran backstop will look to pick up his second win of the season in a highly unfavorable road matchup with a high-flying Philadelphia offense averaging 3.11 goals per game this season, fourth in the NHL.
