Linden Vey: Headed to KHL
Vey was acquired by the KHL's Barys Astana on Sunday, the Calgary Herald reports.
Turning 26 years old later this month, Vey was quite productive with AHL Stockton -- a minor-league affiliate of the Flames -- this past season, dialing in 15 goals and 40 helpers over 61 contests. However, he only made his way into four NHL games in 2016-17, and decided to take his talents overseas despite garnering a qualifying offer from the parent club; Calgary will still hold his NHL rights accordingly.

Flames' Linden Vey: Sent down to minors
Vey was reassigned to AHL Stockton on Tuesday.
Vey made four appearances during this stint in the NHL, but failed to record a point in those contests while averaging just over 11 minutes of ice time. The 25-year-old will likely be on the Flames' shortlist of potential recalls when injuries come up, but he probably shouldn't be expected to add much in terms of fantasy production.

Flames' Linden Vey: Called up to big club Wednesday
Vey was recalled from AHL Stockton on Wednesday, Wes Gilbertson of Postmedia reports.
Vey has been outstanding in the early going for the Flames' minor league affiliate, racking up three assists and six goals over eight games played. The 25-year-old forward will look to reinforce a Flames' offense that ranks 12th in the league in goals scored (35).

Flames' Linden Vey: Reassigned to minors Tuesday
Vey was demoted to AHL Stockton on Tuesday.
Vey, who survived the initial round of cuts Monday, will start the season in the minors. Last year, the center logged 41 contests with the Canucks, after struggling with injuries throughout the season. Given the depth down the middle in Calgary, the 25-year-old seems unlikely to get a lot of ice time in the majors, severely limiting his fantasy value.

Flames' Linden Vey: Clears waivers, still with Flames
Vey cleared waivers Saturday and continues to battle for a spot with the Flames, Kristen Odland of the Calgary Sunreports.
Not only did Vey pass through waivers unclaimed, but he survived the latest round of roster trimming by the Flames that saw four players sent down to AHL Stockton, and one (Lauri Korpikoski) released from his tryout contract. The 25-year-old winger had a highly productive junior career (highlighted by 116 points over 69 games in his final season), but has just 44 points to his name in 134 NHL contests. 15 of those came in 41 games with Vancouver in 2015-16, so there's an outside shot at some fantasy value here if Vey lands a role with the big club.

Flames' Linden Vey: Placed on waivers
The Flames waived Vey on Friday, Wes Gilbertson of Postmedia reports.
Vey played for the Canucks last season, producing four goals and 11 assists in 41 games. However, with teams forced to trim rosters before Opening Night, the Flames apparently considered the 25-year-old expendable. The Saskatchewan native could get claimed by another club.

Flames' Linden Vey: Agrees to deal with Calgary
Vey (upper body) penned a one-year, two-way deal with the Flames on Tuesday, Dean Molberg of 960 the Fan reports.
Vey missed the opening of 2015-16 due to injury and was an inconsistent starter the rest of the way for Vancouver. The center could struggle for ice time next season as Calgary has solid depth up the middle, but could certainly be utilized on the wings. Factoring in his meager 15 points, fantasy owners are unlikely to be lining up to draft the 24-year-old.

Canucks' Linden Vey: No qualifying offer
Vey (upper body) was not tendered a qualifying offer from the Canucks by Monday's deadline, meaning he's set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, The Province reports.
Vey has fallen on hard times. According to the report, his father and father's mistress were found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder on June 5 of this year, with the intended victims being Vey's mother and the mistress' husband -- the actual incident dates back to 2013. The report suggests that Vey -- who produced 15 points in 41 games last season -- could benefit from a change of scenery in Europe, though it remains to be seen if that's the direction he'll go.

With a lone assist in his last 10 outings, Vey's absence will likely go unnoticed by fantasy owners. The 24-year-old was averaging over two minutes of power-play ice time per game, but that has drastically dropped off of late. In fact, in his last four contests, the center has seen an average of 0:27 of action with the man advantage. It is unclear when Vey could return to the lineup, although he has not been ruled out for Thursday.

The primary helper was good for Vancouver's only goal of the contest, as the Kings responded to the tally with five of their own. Canucks' Linden Vey: Scores lone tally in loss
Vey scored his second of the season in a 2-1 shootout loss to Columbus on Thursday.
Vey finished off a brilliant pass from Bo Horvat to score his first goal since Jan. 15, and now gives him seven points in 17 games this season. After getting cut to begin the season and then later establishing himself during his call-up, Vey has been a regular in the Canucks' lineup and has find some very good chemistry with former major junior teammate Emerson Etem. Vey is skilled but has had trouble establishing himself as a scoring forward in the NHL due to his lack of consistency and size, but could provide the Canucks with some depth scoring down the stretch. Fantasy owners may keep an eye on Vey on the waiver wire but it's unlikely he'll be of any real help.
