  • Mark Cundari: Inks deal to play in Germany

    Cundari signed a contract with Augsburger Panther in Germany on Thursday, TSN reports.

    Cundari went undrafted but played extensively below the NHL level starting in 2005-06. His big break came in 2012-13, when he made his NHL debut with the Flames, though he would only end up appearing in eight games total with the parent club between 2012-14. Cundari eventually was waived by the Flames, only to get included in the Sharks' organization this past season, recording three goals, five assists and 29 PIM in 34 games with AHL Barracuda.

    Cundari, who was called up Saturday, is headed back to the AHL without appearing in a game.

    The 25-year-old defenseman was recalled largely as insurance and didn't find his way into a game. His fantasy relevance is low. He hasn't played a game this season or last, and has only eight NHL games to his name.

    The Sharks recalled Cundari from AHL San Jose on Saturday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

    The Sharks reassigned Karl Stollery to AHL San Jose on Friday, so Cundari will replace him on the team's 23-man roster as a depth defender. Cundari has tallied a single assist in six games with AHL San Jose this season.

    Cundari signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.Cundari skated at AHL Adirondack in the Flames organization last season, where he potted seven goals and dished out 22 assists in 50 games. The 25-year-old will serve as a depth option on defense at AHL Worcester in 2015-16.
