Alexander Khokhlachev: Remains on Boston's reserve list
Khokhlachev remains on the Bruins' reserve list, Mark Divver of The Providence Journal reports.
The 2011 second-rounder never really had a chance to showcase his skills at the NHL level with the Claude Julien-coached Bruins nd has been playing in the KHL the last two seasons. That said, the 24-year-old thrived for AHL Providence under the direction of current Boston coach Bruce Cassidy, so it's not out of the question that Khokhlachev might re-visit his status with the Bruins once his deal with Spartak is up. Khokhlachev is coming off a strong campaign in which he logged 19 goals and 50 points with Spartak, good for sixth overall in KHL regular-season scoring. The Bruins organization has solid depth up front, but the 5-foot-10, 181-pounder definitely has the skills to make a run at a job with the team should he elect to take another shot at the NHL.

Alexander Khokhlachev: Poised to return to Russia
Khokhlachev is reportedly expected to sign a KHL contract with SKA St. Petersburg, CSN New England reports.
The anticipated deal would become official after Khokhlachev's contract with the Bruins runs out on June 30, but the move comes as no surprise given the 22-year-old forward's frustration with how he was handled by the Boston organization. Khokhlachev recorded 68 points in 60 games with AHL Providence this past season, but failed to make much of a splash in limited opportunities with the big club. In nine game for the B's over the past three seasons, Khokhlachev did not record a point.

Bruins' Alexander Khokhlachev: Future with B's uncertain?
Khokhlachev's agent hasn't ruled out the possibility that his client could return to Russia after this season, CSN New England reports.
Khokhlachev, whose entry-level contract with Boston is set to expire after the current campaign, has at times been frustrated with the way the Bruins have handled him. The 22-year-old forward has certainly produced at the AHL level, having recorded 66 points in 57 games with Providence this season, but to date, he hasn't made a splash in limited duty with the big club (zero points in nine NHL contests). With Khokhlachev slated to become a restricted free agent this offseason, we suspect that he'll weigh all his options, but a potential return to the B's might hinge on a possible coaching change, given the report's suggestion that Khokhlachev isn't pleased by the lack of opportunities presented to him by (current bench boss) Claude Julien.

Khokhlachev (hand) will return to action Friday against AHL Hartford, Mark Divver of The Providence Journal reports.
Khokhlachev, who has recorded 47 points in 42 AHL games to date, is slated to work on a line with veterans Max Talbot and Joonas Kemppainen on Friday and given his success in the minors this season, we suspect that once Khokhlachev re-proves his health, he'll be on the Bruins' short list of potential call-ups.

Per the report, Khokhlachev won't play this weekend, but could possibly return to the Providence lineup by next weekend. To date, Khokhlachev has recorded 47 points in 42 AHL games, with his last outing (on Feb. 26) resulting in a five-assist effort in a 6-1 win over Bridgeport. Once healthy again, Khokhlachev figures to be on the Bruins' short list of potential call-ups, though in his previous stints with the big club, the 5-foot-11, 184-pound forward has yet to record a point over nine NHL contests.

Khokhlachev suited up for one game during his most-recent stay with the big club, logging just 6:01 of ice time in Friday's NHL Winter Classic against Montreal. His demotion could signal that Joonas Kemppainen, who was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 8 with an upper-body injury, is nearing a return to action. Khokhlachev has tallied an impressive 25 points in 22 games with the Baby Bruins this season, and will likely get another opportunity with the parent club in the near future.

The Bruins have recalled Khokhlachev from AHL Providence in advance of Friday's NHL Winter Classic, NESN.com reports.
With Brad Marchand set to serve a three-game suspension and David Krejci out with an injury, opportunity knocks for Khokhlachev, who continues to produce at the AHL level. The skilled 22-year-old has recorded 25 points in 22 games for Providence this season, but is still looking for his first NHL point, after having played a combined eight games at the NHL level to date. At Thursday's practice, Khokhlachev skated on the Bruins' third line, along with Frank Vatrano and Landon Ferraro.

Khokhlachev had gone minus-1 without any points in four games with the parent club, but the skilled Russian should get meaningful minutes in the minors, develop further, and then return to the parent club once polished. His playmaking prowess is tough to ignore, as someone that has set up 14 scores in 17 games with Providence this season.

Khokhlachev failed to do much of anything during his recent stay with the big club, logging three shots on goal and no points in two games. He skated on the Bruins' top line in those two contests, so the lack of production certainly wasn't the result of a lack of surrounding talent. He could get another chance with the Bruins at some point this season, but will likely spend some time fine tuning his game with AHL Providence after recovering from his hand ailment.

After a disappointing stint on the Bruins' top line, in which he was pointless and put three shots on goal in two games, Khoklachev has been returned to Providence. Khoklachev expressed frustration with the Bruins' organization this summer, declaring that he wouldn't play in Providence all of his life, but after doing so little with so much talent, he should not be surprised that he has landed in Providence again.

Khokhlachev is known as a supremely talented forward with a natural scoring touch and versatility in his game. The Russian has collected four goals and nine assists in 10 games with the Baby Bruins, which has him at a tie for first in the AHL in that category. It remains to be seen exactly where he fits in the Bruins' long-term plans, but he's worth a speculative add in deep leagues in case he stays with the parent club longer than expected.

Meanwhile, teammate Frank Vatrano has racked up eight goals in that span, which places both players on the Bruins' call-up radar. Reports emerged last month that Khokhlachev -- a second-round draft pick by Boston in 2011 -- had expressed some frustration with his role in the B's organization, but his strong start at the AHL level this season is one way to get himself back into the big club's plans. The Bruins have assigned Khokhlachev to AHL Providence, the Boston Globe reports.Khokhlachev, who notched 15 goals and 43 points in 61 games for Providence last season, en route to leading the team in scoring, will thus return to the AHL to continue to refine his game, with an eye toward an in-season call-up. Such an outcome appears likely at some point once injuries hit the B's up front, with GM Don Sweeney noting Thursday, "I feel that Alexander has a tremendous upside, skill-wise. He still has a lot to learn away from the puck. He needs to go through these experiences. He's only 22 years old." Khokhlachev recently expressed some frustration with his role in the Bruins' organization, but a strong start at Providence would go a long way toward putting him on a path leading to a regular gig at the NHL level.... Khokhlachev, who was a second-round draft pick by Boston in 2011, has expressed some frustration with his role in the Bruins' organization, the Boston Herald reports. "This is my last year of my contract," Khokhlachev said Saturday. "I'm 22 already. If they don't give me the chance to play, why am I here? I will not play in Providence all my life."Khokhlachev put up a 15-28-43 stat line in 61 games for AHL Providence last season, while leading the team in scoring in the process. He did play in three games for the big club, without recording a point, but at this stage he's looking for the Bruins to make a firm decision on him.
