Melchiori inked a one-year deal with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (KHL).
Melchiori hasn't appeared in an NHL game since 2016-17 when he was with Winnipeg, the club that took him in the third round of the 2010 NHL Draft. The 28-year-old defenseman is coming off a career year that featured new personal bests in assists (11) and points (17), but it wasn't enough to secure him a promotion from the Devils.

Devils' Julian Melchiori: Staying with Devils
The Devils have signed Melchiori to a two-way contract for the rest of the 2019-20 season.
Melchiori has resided in AHL Binghamton for the extent of the season, racking up five goals and 13 points over 54 games this campaign. He's currently on the Devils' roster, but he's been placed on waivers. Melchiori is expected to clear and finish the season with Binghamton.

Panthers' Julian Melchiori: Hits waiver wire
Melchiori landed on the waiver wire Friday in order for the Panthers to assign him to the minors, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Melchiori signed with Florida during the offseason in hopes of earning more playing time than he saw with the Jets last season. Unfortunately, it looks like the 26-year-old will once again be spending some time in the minors -- if not the entirety of the 2018-19 campaign.

Panthers' Julian Melchiori: Lands one-year contract
Melchiori penned a one-year, two-way deal with Florida on Friday.
Melchiori will have a hard time cracking the Panthers' lineup due to the depth the team has at the position. The blueliner spent the entire 2017-18 campaign in the minors with AHL Manitoba, for which he notched 14 points in 49 contests. The 2010 third-round pick figures to spend the majority of the upcoming season with AHL Springfield.

Melchiori was reassigned to the minors Wednesday.
Melchiori's demotion could mean that Toby Enstrom (lower body) is nearing a return to action or it may be as simple as getting Melchiori some game action considering he has been watching from the press box ever since being called up Dec. 14. Regardless, the 24-year-old is clearly not in coach Paul Maurice's immediate lineup plans, as Tucker Poolman has entrenched himself as the go-to guy in case of injury.

Melchiori was promoted from AHL Manitoba on Thursday.
Melchiori gets his first call-up of the season after Dustin Byfuglien (lower body) was placed on injured reserve. The 26-year-old Melchiori will need to beat out highly touted youngster Tucker Poolman for a spot on the blue line, and more likely will serve primarily as a healthy scratch until Byfuglien can return. In his 26 minor-league appearances this season, Melchiori tallied four goals and 12 points -- already setting career highs as a professional hockey player.

Melchiori was recalled from AHL Manitoba as an emergency option Saturday, Sara Orlesky of TSN reports.
Veteran blueliner Toby Enstrom sustained a concussion in Wednesday's clash with the Penguins and will be out indefinitely, so the Jets have turned to Melchiori as a reinforcement option. However, the 25-year-old is more of a stay-at-home type with just eight points and a plus-7 rating in 40 games for the AHL's Moose this campaign.

Not a particularly offensive-minded defenseman, the 25-year-old has tallied just seven points in 35 games with the club's AHL Manitoba affiliate this season. The 25-year-old blueliner has never played more than 11 NHL games in a season, but could have a chance to do so if he draws into more than six games the rest of the way. Even if he does see some ice time, it's unlikely Melchiori will gain fantasy relevance considering he's yet to record a point through 17 career games at the top level.

Melchiori will likely be called back up for the team's next game against the Wild on Tuesday, as Toby Enstrom (lower body) and Tyler Myers (lower body) remain on IR, while Jacob Trouba (suspension) will not be eligible to return yet. The 25-year-old Melchiori has compiled just six points in 32 minor-league outings, so fantasy owners probably shouldn't expect him to suddenly start scoring.

Melchiori was placed on waivers Friday for the purpose of reassigning him to AHL Manitoba.
Since being recalled in mid-January, Melchiori has been unable to crack the lineup and with Ben Chiarot (illness) cleared to return, the 25-year-old Melchiori no longer has a spot on the 23-man roster. Considering the Ontario native has not played in an NHL game since Nov. 6, it would be surprising to see a team claim him off waivers. If he does clear, the blueliner will be sent down to the minors to get some ice time with the Moose.
