Scarlett only appeared in one game with AHL Texas in 2018-19 due to an injury, so he'll likely have some rust to shake off early on during the upcoming campaign. The 26-year-old is purely an organizational depth piece at this stage in his career, and can be ignored in all fantasy settings.

Scarlett was waived by the Stars on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Scarlett inked a one-year, two-way deal with the Stars in June. The 25-year-old defenseman is regarded as a solid across-the-ice contributor, but he has yet to make his NHL debut. Last year, he added two goals and seven assists over 57 regular-season contests between AHL Springfield and AHL Texas.

Scarlett put pen to paper on a one-year, two-way contract with Dalles on Tuesday.
Scarlett -- who was brought in via trade during the 2017-18 campaign -- will be back with Dallas for another season. The defenseman is still in pursuit of his first NHL appearance, having spent the past five years in the AHL. The 25-year-old is not an offensive force -- considering he tallied a mere nine points in 57 contests -- so even if he does crack the Stars lineup, he is unlikely to produce much in terms of fantasy value.

Stars' Reece Scarlett: Brought in via trade
Scarlett was acquired from the Panthers in a swap of minor-league defenseman for Ludwig Bystrom on Friday.
Scarlett reached the 20-point threshold in each of his previous four seasons with AHL Albany and is on pace to do so again. Friday's exchange marks the second time the 24-year-old has been traded during the 2017 calendar year. Odds are the WHL product will remain in the minors for the bulk of the year.

Scarlett re-signed with the Panthers on a one-year, two-way deal that will net him $675,000 at the NHL level, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Scarlett has yet to crack the NHL ranks, but was dealt to a new organization in early March. It's unlikely he will earn an Opening Night roster spot, but Scarlett has provided enough offensive support to potentially have some fantasy value should he eventually earn a promotion.

Scarlett was not recalled by the Devils once during his time in their organization, so maybe a change of scenery will better his chances of seeing an NHL game. The 23-year-old has notched a respectable 21 points from the blue line in the AHL this season.

Scarlett has not made his NHL debut, yet it appears the organization has seen enough from his time with AHL Albany to extend him another year long deal. Fantasy owners shouldn't be shocked to see the youngster get called up at some point, although they shouldn't expect him to have an extended stay barring injury to the blueliners above him in the depth chart.
