Francois Beauchemin: Final NHL game in books
Beauchemin is set to retire as a member of the Ducks, the Orange County Register reports.
With the Ducks getting swept by the Sharks on Wednesday, this marks an unfortunate end to an illustrious career for Beauchemin. Turning 38 years old in June, the Quebec native spent his 14 years in the NHL predominantly in Anaheim, but he also had stints in Montreal, Columbus, Toronto and Colorado, adding 76 goals and 212 assists over 903 games. Perhaps his best attribute was that cannon for a point shot, though we'd be remiss to leave out how he was an excellent leader who would have no trouble clearing 100 blocked shots in a season.

Beauchemin dished out assists on goals from Nick Ritchie and Andrew Cogliano, helping his side earn a 3-1 win over Minnesota on Wednesday.
After scoring 11 points in his first 58 games, Beauchemin now has six points in his past seven games, including five assists. Beauchemin is definitely not a reliable scorer, but he is hot at the moment, as unlikely as it might seem. If you're looking for a cheap play in daily leagues in an effort to ride his hot streak, there are certainly worse ideas.

Beauchemin scored a goal in the third period and added an assist in a 4-0 win over Calgary on Wednesday.
Points are an adventure for Beauchemin, who only has 13 on the season and has always been more comfortable preventing goals than scoring them. As such, he's valuable to the Ducks, but fantasy owners might have a harder time getting much out of him. The reality is that unless he's giving you blocked shots and hits, he doesn't have a lot of fantasy value, this performance marking a rare exception.

Beauchemin was a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game during Tuesday's 4-0 win over Washington.
This was the fifth time in eight games the veteran has watched from the press box. Beauchemin has been a modest fantasy contributor when in the lineup with 11 points, 74 shots, 18 PIM, 82 hits, 98 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating through 52 contests. However, as long as Anaheim has a healthy defense corps, he projects to continue playing sparingly.

Beauchemin was a healthy scratch for Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Rangers.
The veteran has been receiving the odd game off over the past month and a half, and he's only playing sparingly in a supporting role when in the lineup now that the Anaheim defense corps is at full health. With just two goals and seven assists through 40 games, Beauchemin's fantasy value is tied to his work in the peripheral categories. He's recorded a respectable 57 shots, 14 PIM, 56 hits, 81 blocked shots and plus-9 rating, but those numbers still have him off the grid in most setups.

Ducks' Francois Beauchemin: Pointless through past eight outings
Beauchemin failed to register a point for the eighth consecutive game during Friday's 2-1 win over Calgary.
The veteran defenseman has seen his power-play time vanish during the scoreless stretch, and he was also a healthy scratch for a game during the drought. With Anaheim's blue line back at full health, Beauchemin has been pushed into a bottom-pairing role, and barring upcoming injuries, he's likely to remain there. There's modest fantasy appeal in cavernous settings because of his decent cross-category contributions in the peripheral statistics, but offensive expectations should remain in check.

Beauchemin scored his second goal of the season, dished out an assist, blocked seven shots, and was credited with four shots on goal in Tuesday's loss to Vegas.
Beauchemin hasn't made much of a fantasy impact this season, managing just six points through 23 games. He logged 21:42 of ice time Tuesday and is a great defensive player, but the offense just isn't there. While he's got four points in his last five games, make sure you know what you're getting with the veteran blueliner. His best days are behind him.

Beauchemin failed to register a point for the eighth consecutive game during Sunday's 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay.
The veteran is holding on by a thread this season, and he probably wouldn't be a regular in the lineup if Cam Fowler (leg) were healthy. After all, Beauchemin sports a discouraging 47.1 Corsi For percentage despite beginning 53.7 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the offensive zone. Additionally, he's hardly moving the fantasy needle in any particular category with 33 blocked shots through 16 games his best contribution. It's probably safe to ignore Beauchemin in the majority of settings.

Beauchemin has averaged 21:10 of ice time with 2:37 on the power play the past two games.
The veteran defenseman is a stopgap top-four defenseman for Anaheim, as Beauchemin projects to settle into a third-pairing role once Hampus Lindholm (shoulder) and Sami Vatanen (shoulder) are back in the mix next month. For the time being, though, Beauchemin offers fleeting fantasy value -- especially in the peripheral categories (shots, hits, blocked shots and PIM).

Ducks' Francois Beauchemin: Inks one-year contract
Beauchemin put pen to paper on a one-year, $1 million deal with Anaheim on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Beauchemin likely won't find ice time easy to come by, but given the number of injuries that impacted the Ducks last season, it's not surprising to see them add some additional blue line depth. As expected, the 37-year-old will not be getting anywhere close to the $4.5 million annual cap hit he carried before Colorado bought him out of his contract. At best, Beauchemin will probably be a 20-point player, yet until his role is more finalized -- fantasy owners may want to hold off on utilizing him for their lineups.

Beauchemin will be bought out of the last year of his $4.5 million contract.
Beauchemin saw a significant drop in production this season, as he registered a mere five goals and 13 helpers in 81 games. The 37-year-old averaged 21:31 of ice time -- including lining up on both the power play and penalty kill -- but didn't contribute enough to justify that big salary. Unfortunately for the Avs, they won't see any cap relief because they signed the blueliner to a 35+ contract. If the veteran can secure a role with another club, it will likely be at a significant discount.

Beauchemin scored just his third goal of the year Thursday against the Devils, but it came at a huge time, breaking a 2-2 tie late in the third period and holding up as the game-winner.
Having managed exactly zero points and a minus-8 rating over his prior 15 games, Beauchemin wasn't exactly a likely hero. He has just 14 points on the season, leaving the veteran blueliner's fantasy value quite low. At 36, he has one year left on the contract he signed with Colorado, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Beauchemin retire after next season.

It was the 12th point of the season for the 36-year-old, who is well off the pace of last year's 34-point output. It's been a rough year for pretty much everyone in an Avs sweater, and the fact that Beauchemin's minus-4 rating is best on the team (among players that have logged 24 games or more) exemplifies that point. Further adding to the fantasy disappointment in deeper leagues has been his reduction in blocked shots, as his 106 equate to a pace of 181 after he piled up 256 in 2015-15.

Beauchemin (illness) will play Thursday night versus the Ducks, NHL.com reports.
Beauchemin returns from a one-game absence to face the team with which he spent parts of nine seasons. The 36-year-old's workload has been sporadic from one game to the next, and he's only averaging 20:38 of ice time -- that's nearly five minutes less than he averaged in the 2015-16 campaign -- including just a teaspoon's worth of action on the power play. Beauchemin has also gone scoreless on 51 shots; nobody was mistaking him for an elite scoring blueliner, but he's starting to slip into total irrelevance in the fantasy realm.
