Devils' Brian Flynn: Surfaces on waivers
Flynn was placed on waivers by the Devils on Sunday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.
Flynn failed to make the Devils' roster out of camp and will report to the team's AHL affiliate in Utica. The 33-year-old Massachusetts native is back in North America after spending the previous three seasons in the Swiss league, so it's no surprise that Flynn was unable to stick with the big club.

Devils' Brian Flynn: Returning to North America
Flynn signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Devils on Wednesday, per CapFriendly.
Flynn spent the last three years in the Swiss National League, including the last two seasons with HC Ambri-Piotta. He amassed 67 points in 99 contests with Ambri-Piotta, and now he'll return to North American hockey. Flynn is expected to begin 2021-22 with AHL Utica, the Devils' new farm team.

Brian Flynn: Hits unconditional waivers
The Blues placed Flynn on unconditional waivers Friday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Flynn will thus have his contract terminated by the Blues, making him a free agent barring a claim from another club. The 30-year-old pivot has collected just nine points over 21 games for AHL San Antonio this season and will now be looking for work with another organization.

Flynn didn't play an NHL game with the Stars organization last season, compiling 47 points in 66 games with AHL Texas instead. The adjustment to the Blues will likely keep him in Texas, as Flynn is expected to be relegated to AHL San Antonio.

Per Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site, Flynn was waived with the intent of being assigned to AHL Texas, but considering his history of solid bottom-six work, he could very well be claimed by another team. Either way, he's not much of a fantasy asset in most formats.

Stars' Brian Flynn: Signs one-year contract
Flynn agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Stars on Saturday worth $700,000, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Flynn is nothing if not consistent as he recorded 10 points in each of the past two seasons. In 51 appearances for the Canadiens last year, the center averaged 12:04 of ice time, including 1:30 on the penalty kill. The 28-year-old will likely fill a similar role in Dallas as a depth player utilized in shorthanded situations.

Flynn played in just 51 contests this past season and registered a mere 10 points. After back-to-back seasons in which he played fewer than 60 games, the 28-year-old will have to look elsewhere to extend his career. Even if he can land a spot on another club -- something that is by no means a lock -- he probably won't offer much in terms of fantasy value.

Flynn has logged just two games in the Canadiens' last 14 due to injury or as a healthy scratch, so it shouldn't be too surprising coach Claude Julien is in no rush to slot the winger back into the lineup. At this stage of the game, you'll probably want to leave him to the waiver wire in most seasonal settings, and he's nothing more than a contrarian flier in daily contests.

He didn't score at all in the first 16 games he played, so fittingly, Flynn scored twice in the same game. Max Pacioretty and Flynn combined to score six of Montreal's 10 goals Saturday. Flynn has two goals and four points in 17 games this season, so he's hardly fantasy relevant.

Flynn returned to action Friday after missing nine games due to an upper-body injury. He had one shot in 10:47 of ice time while skating on the fourth line and penalty-kill unit in Montreal's 2-1 loss to San Jose.
Flynn was in and Daniel Carr was out against the Sharks. The 28-year-old native of Massachusetts doesn't provide much in the way off offense -- an area of the game in which the team has struggled of late -- so it wouldn't be a surprise to see a revolving door for that spot on the fourth line between Flynn and the more offensively skilled Carr.
