Dano inked a two-month contract with HC Ocelari Trinec (Czech Republic) on Monday.
Dano's deal is essentially to keep him in shape in the lead up to the 2022 Winter Olympics, as he is expected to suit up for Slovakia. If the 26-year-old center can impress, there is a chance he could sign an NHL deal coming out of the competition.

Marko Dano: Not qualified by Jets
Dano will become a free agent after not receiving a qualifying offer from Winnipeg on Monday, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Dano has suited up for just three NHL games since the start of the 2019-20 campaign. He tallied three points in 13 games with AHL Manitoba last season. With 141 career NHL games under his belt, the 26-year-old forward could find a two-way deal somewhere on the market this offseason.

The Jets placed Dano on waivers when training camp opened Monday. The 26-year-old forward struggled last year, failing to post a point over three games with the Blue Jackets and recording just 19 points over 46 games in AHL Cleveland. If he clears waivers, he'll be eligible to play in the minors again this year.

Dano returns to the Jets organization after spending last year with the Blue Jackets, In his previous stint with Winnipeg, the 25-year-old center saw action in 82 NHL games in which he generated 10 goals, 12 assists and 105 shots while averaging 10:31 of ice time. If he can earn a spot on the 23-man roster, which is far from guaranteed, Dano figures to slot into a bottom-six role and would offer mid-range fantasy value at best.

Dano was a restricted free agent for the Blue Jackets this offseason but will head back to Europe. The 25-year-old forward played for HK Dukla from 2010-12 before he was drafted by Columbus in 2013. He has 45 points in 141 career NHL games.

Dano was selected in the first round (27th overall) by the Blue Jackets in 2013, but he only played one season with the club before making stops in Winnipeg, Chicago and Colorado over the last four years. Dano was only able to break into the lineup for eight games last season with Colorado, in which he managed just three shots, seven PIM and 16 hits while averaging a meager 6:53 of ice time. The Austrian forward figures to spend the bulk of the upcoming season in the minors again, though he could earn the occasional call-up throughout the year.

Dano didn't receive a qualifying offer from Winnipeg on Tuesday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
It's a little bit of a surprise to see the Jets part ways with Dano, after the team reclaimed him off waivers in November following his brief stint in Colorado. Once he was back in the fold, the club left him in the minors with AHL Manitoba, for which he notched 12 goals, 18 helpers and 75 PIM. Selected by the Blue Jackets with the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old has logged just 138 games and could struggle to secure an NHL deal this summer.

Dano will be rejoining the Jets' organization after the club claimed him off the waiver wire.
Dano was put on waivers by the Jets back in mid-October when the Avs snatched him off the wire. Now once again being waived, the winger will rejoin the club that drafted him 27th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft. He was immediately assigned to the minors.

Dano was claimed by the Avalanche on Monday after being waived by the Jets, Ryan Clark of The Athletic reports.
Dano didn't see a second of game action with Winnipeg before being waived, so clearly he wasn't going to find an opportunity there. He's only 23, but things have gone downhill for Dano since he notched 21 points in 35 games as a rookie. Perhaps he can find a role with the Avs to reboot his career.
