  • Capitals' Scott Kosmachuk: Flipped via trade

Colorado traded Kosmachuk, a 2020 second-round pick and a 2020 third-round pick to Washington in exchange for Andre Burakovsky on Friday.

Kosmachuk is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, so his stint with the Caps may be short lived. The winger registered 12 goals, 11 helpers and 47 PIM in 54 games with AHL Colorado last season. Considering the 25-year-old hasn't played in the NHL since 2015-16, he may be hard pressed to secure a spot on a 23-man roster.

  • Avalanche's Scott Kosmachuk: Lands on waiver wire

Kosmachuk was placed on waivers by the Avalanche on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

With one week to go before the start of the regular season, NHL teams are paring down their rosters to conform to the 23-man limit. Kosmachuk wasn't waiver exempt, so he hits the wire and will only stay within the Avalanche system (with AHL Colorado) in the event that he passes through unclaimed. The forward has compiled 134 points (59 goals, 75 assists) through 265 career contests between St. John's and Manitoba of the AHL.

  • Avalanche's Scott Kosmachuk: Lands in Mile High City

Kosmachuk agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Colorado on Monday.

After failing to receive a qualifying offer from the Jets -- who drafted Kosmachuk in 2012 -- the winger will join the Avs organization for the upcoming season. The Toronto native racked up 42 points and 77 PIM in 70 outings for AHL Hartford last year, but did also post a concerning minus-13 rating. While Colorado could decide to give the 24-year-old a look during training camp, more likely than not he will spend the bulk of 2018-19 in the minors with the newly minted AHL Colorado.

  • Scott Kosmachuk: Won't be retained by Jets

Kosmachuk wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Jets and will become an unrestricted free agent.

Kosmachuk hasn't seen the ice at the NHL level since the 2015 season, spending the majority of his time with AHL Manitoba instead. After failing to impress the Jets' coaching brass, he'll now become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but Kosmachuk is unlikely to become a relevant fantasy option in the majority of leagues no matter where he ends up.

  • Jets' Scott Kosmachuk: Sent back to minors

Kosmachuk was reassigned back to the AHL Manitoba affiliate following Thursday's game against the Kings.

Recalled by the Jets earlier in the month, the 22-year-old produced his first career NHL point in the March 12 game against the Avalanche, adding two more after that. He'll now return to the AHL affiliate and serve as organizational depth, but it shouldn't have much of an impact on fantasy lineups.

  • Jets' Scott Kosmachuk: Notches first NHL point

Kosmachuk notched a helper -- his first NHL point -- and two PIM in Saturday's 3-2 win against Colorado.

Kosmachuk was able to hit the scoresheet for the first time in three appearances after being called up on March 8. In 59 outings with AHL Manitoba this year, the winger has 27 points and 33 PIM. The Jets will hope the 22-year-old can build off his first NHL point.

  • Jets' Scott Kosmachuk: Added to NHL roster Tuesday

Kosmachuk was called up from AHL Manitoba on Tuesday.

Kosmachuk turned heads with the OHL's Geulph Storm in 2013-14, dropping 101 points and a plus-52 rating in 68 games. After dominating juniors, Kosmachuk headed to AHL St. John's and most recently, AHL Manitoba, where he produced 14 goals and 13 assists, albeit with a minus-14 rating. It's clear that he needs to work on his defense with the competition getting stiffer, but Kosmachuk could prove to be a decent fill-in option with the Jets dealing with a couple of injuries up front.
