Svedberg signed a two-year contract with Timra IK to play in his native Sweden.
Svedberg spent the 2017-18 campaign with the Wild organization, but he was unable to ever crack the lineup for Minnesota. Instead, the netminder logged 44 appearances for AHL Iowa, posting an 18-18-3 record with a .905 save percentage. With no NHL deal in hand, the 28-year-old will return home to Sweden, where he is likely to play out the rest of his professional career.

Wild's Niklas Svedberg: Leaps to big club
Svedberg was recalled from AHL Iowa on Sunday, Michael Russo of The Athletic Minnesota reports.
Svedberg hasn't played an NHL game since the 2014-15 season when he played with the Bruins. Instead, he spent the entirety of this campaign with AHL Iowa and played 42 games, recording a .905 save percentage and 2.87 GAA. Svedberg will serve as the third goalie for Minnesota's playoff stint.

The Wild reassigned Svedberg to AHL Iowa on Friday.
Alex Stalock rejoined the Wild on Thursday following the birth of his daughter, so Minnesota is no longer in need of Svedberg's services as a backup netminder. The 28-year-old Swede will return to his role as AHL Iowa's primary backstop.

The Swede played perfectly until he was taken out in the middle of the second period, and even made seven power-play saves. This is Svedberg's first season in North America since 2014-15 when he started 21 games for Boston, and he's battling Steve Michalek and Alex Stalock for the backup goaltending job behind Devan Dubnyk.

Svedberg will compete with Alex Stalock for the primary backup goalie job in Minnesota this season, the Pioneer Press reports.
The undrafted Swede does have NHL experience -- he recorded 19 games with the Bruins between 2013-14 -- but Svedberg will have to beat out Stalock, whose resume includes experience playing in five different levels of North American hockey. At the very least, it appears that Wild coach Bruce Boudreau is keeping his options open with training camp looming.

Wild's Niklas Svedberg: Comes to terms with Minnesota
Svedberg agreed to a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Wild on Saturday, TSN reports.
The Swedish backstop went undrafted, but latched on with the Bruins in 2012-13 and remained property of Boston's hockey club for three seasons. Most of his service time in North America was spent with AHL Providence, though he was called up for 18 games with the B's in 2014-15 and turned in a respectable 7-5-1 record, 2.33 GAA and .918 save percentage. He then spent two seasons with Ufa Salavat Yulayev of Russia's KHL league before earning this latest deal with Minnesota. He's an organizational depth option who's likely ticketed for AHL Iowa in 2017-18.
