  • Wade Megan: Ending career

Megan announced his retirement from professional hockey Thursday, Cap Carey of NNY360.com reports.

Megan only played in 11 games with Detroit last season, in which he notched one helper, 16 shots and four hits while averaging a mere 7:53 of ice time. Following a four-year collegiate career with Boston University, the 29-year-old was unable to earn regular minutes in the NHL and will retire after just 15 appearances.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Still property of Wings

Megan cleared waivers Thursday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

Megan presumably will head to AHL Grand Rapids having passed through waivers unclaimed. The depth pivot has a lone assist representing his point total over 15 career games at the top level, so it's safe to ignore him in all fantasy formats.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Records apple against Leafs

Megan delivered a primary assist Sunday in a 5-4 overtime road loss to the Maple Leafs.

This was Megan's first point in nine games since joining the Red Wings as a free agent this past July. He doesn't play enough to warrant fantasy hockey consideration.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Resurfaces on parent club roster

Megan was called up from AHL Grand Rapids on Friday.

Megan has been pulled back to the NHL in the wake of news that net-front winger Anthony Mantha will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a broken hand. The Red Wings called up Megan in late October, but he ended up posting a minus-3 rating over six contents in which he was held without a point. Even without Mantha, we can't envision a scenario where Megan would pick up enough playing time to warrant fantasy consideration.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Reassigned to AHL

Megan was returned to AHL Grand Rapids on Tuesday.

Megan assuredly benefited from a lengthy stay at the top level upon his initial call-up. He was held off the scoresheet over a six-game span, but the rookie generated an acceptable 51.5 Corsi rating over that span and Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill was comfortable starting the 28-year-old in the offensive zone over 60 percent of the time at even strength. Still, veteran Thomas Vanek is due back from a lower-body injury Wednesday against the Bruins, and Megan naturally gets bumped down by virtue of having the least amount of NHL experience.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Finding bearings in Motown

Megan has been held without a point through four games as a Red Wing.

Megan's only averaging nine minutes of ice time per contest and finds himself on pace for a minus-35 rating. The Red Wings would assuredly demote him to the AHL before it would get that ugly for the American skater, but it just goes to show that he's not on the map when it comes to fantasy hockey.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Promoted to big club

The Red Wings recalled Megan from AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday.

The Red Wings are dealing with a ton of injuries up front, so Megan will likely slot into the lineup immediately Thursday against New Jersey. The 28-year-old forward has notched two goals and four points in eight AHL appearances this season.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Designated for waivers

Megan was waived by the Red Wings on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Megan had virtually no chance at cracking the Opening Night roster with the Red Wings, but he could mesh with AHL Grand Rapids in the likely event that he clears waivers.

  • Red Wings' Wade Megan: Headed to Detroit on one-year pact

Megan agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Red Wings on Sunday.

Megan potted a goal in his NHL debut with the Blues in December of 2016. However, he's only played in two more games at the highest level since then, as the New York native has been more accustomed to playing in the AHL. Every team needs depth at the center spot, though, and that's precisely what he'll provide for the Wings.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Sees regression in AHL

Megan has seven goals, 22 points and 37 PIM through 40 games with AHL Chicago.

Megan finished the 2016-17 campaign with 33 goals and 33 assists through 73 games, and he entered training camp with a good shot at finding a place in the Blues' injury-riddled lineup. However, he didn't show the development St. Louis hoped for, so he was promptly sent back to the AHL for more work. His regression could be partly attributed to playing time, since the Blues are no longer sole affiliates with AHL Chicago, but it's still discouraging for Megan, who had one goal in three games for the Blues last season.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Sent to minors

Megan was sent down to AHL Chicago on Sunday.

This likely won't have much fantasy relevance, as Megan has appeared in just one contest this season for St. Louis. The 27-year-old will likely only be called up to the big club again in the event of an injury.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Summoned to parent club

Megan was recalled from AHL Chicago on Saturday.

The Blues waived Megan exactly a month ago, but they were fielding the bare minimum amount of forwards until calling him back up Saturday. He's not someone you want to be eyeing in fantasy pools due to a lack of experience, though Megan brings size and grit to the lineup and makes for a solid depth option to the benefit of the big club.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Waived by Blues

Megan was waived by St. Louis on Wednesday.

The former Boston University Terrier played in one game for the Blues this season, throwing a single shot on goal in a little over eight minutes of time on ice. Having produced an impressive 33 goals and 66 points in the AHL last season, Megan could be claimed by another organization that sees his ability translating to the NHL level, but if not, he'll be sent to the minors.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Signs one-year, two-way contract with Blues

Megan signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blues on Monday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

Megan saw action in his first three games of his NHL career with the Blues last season, but spent the majority of the year with AHL Chicago. In the AHL, Megan tallied 33 goals and 33 assists across 73 games, so he could be ready to make the jump to the NHL given his offensive output in the minors.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Sent down to minors

Megan was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Friday, Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Megan was the odd man out after Kyle Brodziak (foot) was taken off injured reserve and the Blues needed a spot on the 23-man roster. In his three appearances this season, the 26-year-old managed to tally a goal and six shots while averaging a mere 8:48 of ice time per night. The center will head back to the minors where he has racked up an impressive 45 points in 50 outings. If additional injuries pop up, don't be surprised to see Megan back in a Blues jersey.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Promoted from minors Tuesday

Megan was recalled from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.

Megan returns to the big club following reports that Paul Stastny (lower body) will miss the next two contests after being placed on injured reserve. The 26-year-old rookie shows lots of promise, having recorded 23 goals and 22 assists in the minors this season and having scored in his only career NHL game.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Returns to minors after smashing NHL debut

Megan was sent down to the minors Friday.

While this is technically a demotion, it shouldn't be viewed in a negative light. Megan was excellent in his NHL debut against the Lightning on Thursday, posting a plus-2 rating, winning five of nine draws, and even finding twine over 9:40 of ice time. He'll presumably draw into Monday's AHL contest versus the Admirals, and we think there's a chance he gets called back up if Paul Stastny (upper body) isn't ready to go following the holiday break.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Makes impression in NHL debut

Megan skated just 9:40 in his NHL debut Thursday, which was enough time for him to score a goal, go plus-2 and win five of nine faceoffs against the Lightning.

That's a pretty nice way to make a first impression as a 26-year-old career minor leaguer. Megan and the fourth line were pretty much the only bright spot as the Blues took a 5-2 loss, and his 24 points in 28 AHL games seem to offer some promise. However, he has a spotty track record (to be charitable) offensively. Still, it won't cost you much to speculate on him in deep formats.

  • Blues' Wade Megan: Comes up to big club

Megan was recalled from AHL Chicago on Thursday.

The Boston College product has toiled in the minors since the 2012-13 season, but the parent club could render Megan useful with Paul Stastny on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury.
