  • Nick Sorensen: Returning to Sweden

Sorensen will play for Linkoping of the Swedish Hockey League next season, Patrick Williams of NHL.com reports.

Thus ends Sorensen's time in North America, at least for the time being. After making the Ducks' roster at the beginning of the season and playing in the first five games, the 22-year-old was optioned to AHL San Diego, where he recorded 22 points in 48 regular-season contests over the remainder of the campaign. He'll continue to work on his skills in his native Sweden for now, but don't count him out of a return to the NHL at some point.

  • Ducks' Nick Sorensen: Demoted to minors Saturday

The Ducks assigned Sorensen to AHL San Diego on Saturday.

Sorensen only managed to tally a single assist in the first five games of the season, so the Ducks decided to send the 21-year-old forward to their AHL affiliate in an attempt to jump-start his offensive production in the minors. Sorensen may eventually develop into a solid two-way forward for Anaheim, but probably isn't worth owning in dynasty formats at this early stage in his development.

  • Ducks' Nick Sorensen: Strong camp leads to roster spot

Sorensen made the 23-man roster to begin the season, Eric Stephens of The Orange County Register reports.

Sorensen was the 45th overall selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has spent the past two seasons in the Swedish Hockey League. Last year, Sorensen returned a promising 23 points over 37 games, and he's expected to fill a bottom-line gig with Anaheim to start the season. His speed and 200-foot game will likely fit best in a checking role, however.
