Zykov scored a power-play goal and registered five shots on goal in a 6-3 win over Vancouver on Sunday.
Zykov picked up his first goal of the year midway through the first period, scoring what was also the first power-play goal of his NHL career. A bottom-six role player for the Golden Knights, Zykov has just three points in 11 games this season and 16 points in 51 NHL games.

Golden Knights' Valentin Zykov: Back with big club
The Golden Knights recalled Zykov from AHL Chicago on Monday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
The Russian recently completed his 20-game ban for violating the NHL's Performance Enhancing Substances Program, but he was placed on waivers by the team on Nov. 27. Going unclaimed, Zykov stayed in the AHL, recording four points in five games. The 24-year-old has put up two points in seven contests for the Golden Knights this season, and his first chance to re-enter the lineup will come Tuesday against visiting Chicago.

Zykov's 20-game suspension for using PEDs is coming to a close, but the team has opted to send him down rather than reintegrate him into the lineup. The 24-year-old Russian will likely clear waivers, as his 15 points through 47 career NHL games are nothing to write home about.

Zykov has been suspended 20 games for violating the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
Zykov's suspension won't impact many fantasy lineups, as he's only notched seven points in 35 games over the past two campaigns, but it will definitely test the Golden Knights' depth up front, as he's been a fixture in the team's bottom six thus far this season. The 24-year-old Russian will be eligible to rejoin the lineup Nov. 29 against Arizona.

Golden Knights' Valentin Zykov: Picks up helper
Zykov supplied an assist and three shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.
Zykov earned his first point of the year with the secondary assist on William Carrier's opening goal 5:01 into the game. The 2013 second-round pick has only appeared in 42 NHL games, with 14 points to his credit over parts of four seasons. The Russian winger is currently enjoying third-line usage while Alex Tuch (undisclosed) is out of action.

Zykov had two goals and three helpers between the Oilers, Hurricanes and Golden Knights, combining to feature in 28 games this season. He featured on the top line Saturday, but will likely find himself in the press box more often than not in the playoffs.

Zykov was benched in the final 20 minutes of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The Golden Knights count as Zykov's third team of the 2018-19 season, so needless to say, he can ill-afford to have any factors interrupting his quest to earn a full-time roster spot with an NHL club. Nabbed by the Kings in the second round (37th overall) of the 2013 draft, Zykov didn't pan out in either Carolina or Edmonton before Vegas claimed him off the waiver wire Dec. 29.

Golden Knights' Valentin Zykov: Expected to join team soon
Coach Gerard Gallant told reporters there's a good chance Zykov will arrive in Vegas on Wednesday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
If Zykov does in fact join his new club Wednesday, he could make his Golden Knights debut as soon as Friday against Anaheim. The Russian winger, who was waived by the Hurricanes and Oilers before being claimed by Vegas, has notched three assists in 18 NHL appearances this campaign.

Zykov -- who was claimed off waivers by Edmonton in November -- played in just five games for the Oilers -- he averaged a meager 7:08 of ice time and tallied two PIM, a minus-1 rating and two hits. The winger will be shipped down to AHL Bakersfield if he clears, though Carolina could try to get the Russian back in its system.

Zykov (visa) has been cleared to play in Canada, which means he's likely to play against the visiting Wild on Friday, Jason Gregor of OilersNation.com reports. However, the winger is still technically removed from the official 23-man roster, per the NHL's official media site.
The Oilers won't be discrete when it comes time to activate Zykov since they'll have to send a player to waivers or AHL Bakersfield in a corresponding move. The Russian has missed three games since being claimed off waivers from the Hurricanes, and there's a lot of anticipation in knowing how he'll perform after the 2013 second-round pick -- originally to Los Angeles -- produced a mere 11 points over 25 games with the 'Canes.

Apparently, there was a delay with Zykov's equipment arriving in Edmonton after the Hurricanes lost out on the 2013 second-rounder via waivers Friday. But rest assured, the Russian is healthy and not dealing with any type of visa issue, with Monday's road game against the Stars presenting his next chance to debut with the Oilers.

Zykov was never able to establish a consistent role with the Hurricanes, totaling four goals and 11 points in 25 appearances over the past three campaigns, but he displayed his potential while playing for Carolina's AHL affiliate last season, racking up 33 goals and 54 points in 63 contests. The Oilers may want to see if the 2013 second-round pick can develop chemistry with Connor McDavid while skating on their top line, so he's definitely worth a look in most fantasy formats.
