  • Sharks' Antoine Morand: Dealt to Sharks

Tampa Bay sent Morand to the Sharks in exchange for Alexei Melnichuk on Monday.

Morand was a second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. The 23-year-old has yet to see any playing time at the NHL level. He's expected to report to AHL San Jose.

  • Lightning's Antoine Morand: Acquired by Lightning

Morand was traded from the Ducks to the Lightning in exchange for Alexander Volkov on Wednesday.

The Lightning also gained a seventh-round pick in 2023 in the deal. Morand, 22, has a goal and five assists in 21 games for AHL San Diego this year. The Quebec native is expected to report to AHL Syracuse, although he may need to complete a quarantine before joining his new squad. A second-round pick from 2017, Morand probably won't compete for a roster spot with the big club for another couple of years.

  • Ducks' Antoine Morand: Trying to find way in QMJHL

Morand picked up a hat trick and added three assists in QMJHL Halifax's 7-5 win over Victoriaville on Thursday.

It was a much needed strong effort from a player who is in the midst of arguably his worst junior season. While Morand is still averaging more than a point per game (51 points in 46 games) this year for Halifax, he hasn't taken the significant step forward that Anaheim had been hoping for when the season began. Morand is undersized (5-foot-11, 185 pounds) and of little use if he isn't producing offensively. It's a near certainty that Morand will require an extended apprenticeship in the AHL beginning this fall.

  • Ducks' Antoine Morand: Inks entry-level deal with Anaheim

Morand signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Ducks on Tuesday.

Morand has spent the last three campaigns with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL, racking up 68 goals and 200 points in 181 contests. The 2017 second-round pick will likely receive an invite to the Ducks' training camp next season, but he'll almost certainly be returned to the QMJHL for another year of development.
