Jay Bouwmeester: Announces retirement
Bouwmeester announced his retirement from the NHL on Monday, Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic reports.
Bouwmeester's 2019-20 season came to an abrupt end Feb. 11, 2020, when he suffered a cardiac episode on the bench during a game against the Ducks and was rushed to the hospital. The 37-year-old blueliner eventually had an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator placed in his chest to help prevent a recurring issue. Bouwmeester won't return to the NHL, telling Lebrun that he looks forward to spending time with his family. The 2002 third-overall pick played 1,240 games and posted 88 goals and 336 assists, adding another 13 points over 75 postseason contests.

Blues' Jay Bouwmeester: Officially shut down for season
General manager Doug Armstrong relayed that Bouwmeester (chest) won't play for the rest of the regular season or playoffs, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Bouwmeester had an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator placed in his chest after a scary incident on the bench Feb. 11 in Anaheim. He's been placed on LTIR and won't return to the lineup this season. In a shared press conference with the GM, Bouwmeester relayed that he is still undergoing medical tests and hasn't made any final decisions about his hockey career.

Blues' Jay Bouwmeester: Shifts to LTIR
Bouwmeester (chest) was placed on long-term injured reserve Tuesday.
Bouwmeester had an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator placed in his chest Friday, and he returned to St. Louis following the surgery. Due to the nature of this procedure and his placement on LTIR, it seems unlikely the veteran blueliner will be able to return this year. The Blues will receive $3.25 million in salary-cap relief.

Blues' Jay Bouwmeester: Undergoes heart procedure
Bouwmeester (chest) had an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) procedure performed Friday.
Bouwmeester is expected to be flown back to St. Louis once cleared for travel. The Blues announced that they would provide an additional update on the blueliner's status in a week. At this point, the Edmonton native should be considered out indefinitely until a more definitive timeline can be established by the team.

Bouwmeester (chest) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
This is an expected move following Bouwmeester's cardiac episode Tuesday. In a corresponding move, Niko Mikkola was called up from AHL San Antonio. Additional tests are being done to pinpoint the cause of Bouwmeester's health scare, so expect him to be out indefinitely.

Blues GM Doug Anderson relayed Wednesday that Bouwmeester (chest) is doing "very well" in his recovery following a scary incident during Tuesday's game against Dallas, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Per Tracey Myers of NHL.com, Bouwmeester lost consciousness and required a defibrillator to regain it following a cardiac episode. Fortunately, his prognosis has improved overnight and he appears to be in much better shape. Bouwmeester is set to undergo additional testing to discover the origin of the issue.

Bouwmeester (undisclosed) has been taken to the hospital following his collapse in Tuesday's game versus the Ducks, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Bouwmeester was reported to be awake on the way to the hospital in Anaheim. As a result of the scary incident involving the defenseman, the Blues and Ducks have postponed Tuesday's game.

Blues' Jay Bouwmeester: Suffers cardiac episode
Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said Bouwmeester suffered a cardiac episode during Tuesday's game.
Armstrong added Bouwmeester was conscious and alert at the UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was transported by ambulance from Honda Center after the incident. An update on Bouwmeester's condition is expected from the Blues on Wednesday, but it's safe to say he will be out for an indefinite period of time. The team will make sure his overall health is given the utmost priority during his recovery.

Bouwmeester collapsed on the Blues' bench during the first period of Tuesday's game against the Ducks, Elliott Teaford of The Orange County Register reports.
The game immediately stopped and Bouwmeester was taken back to the locker room to be evaluated by medical personnel. There's no indication of what caused the scary scene to unfold. The game entered a delay and both teams retreated to their locker rooms while Bouwmeester was attended to.
