  • Jussi Jokinen: Announces retirement

Jokinen will bring his professional career to a close, his team announced Wednesday.

Jokinen has spent the past three seasons playing overseas in Finland for Karpat for which he came up through the youth ranks. Prior to his return home, the 38-year-old center logged 951 games in the NHL for nine different organizations, none more so than with the Hurricanes. Along the way, Jokinen registered 191 goals and 372 assists plus another 32 points in 54 postseason contests, though he was never able to lift Lord Stanley's chalice.

  • Jussi Jokinen: Signs overseas

Jokinen signed a contract with Oulun Karpat of the Finnish Liiga for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

The 35-year-old had been playing in Switzerland before agreeing to return to Oulun Karpat, the team he played for during the lockout. It's safe to say at this point that Jokinen's days in the NHL are over.

  • Jussi Jokinen: Let go by Detroit

Jokinen was released from his professional tryout agreement with the Red Wings on Sunday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

The Wings saw a number of veteran defenseman sustain injuries late in the preseason, and Jokinen was a no-brainer drop since the club has an array of proven scoring options available. Given his journeyman status, Jokinen should find another suitor before long.

  • Red Wings' Jussi Jokinen: Signs PTO with Detroit

Jokinen signed a PTO with the Red Wings on Monday.

Jokinen was a wandering soul last season, as he played for four different teams. In total, he only managed 17 points, and the Finn had seen better days. The 35-year-old will try and stick with a Wings team that could have room for a veteran forward, but it wouldn't be surprising if Jokinen doesn't end up with a contract. Detroit is rebuilding, so it may prefer giving a spot to a young player.

  • Canucks' Jussi Jokinen: Plays musical chairs in 2017-18

Jokinen spent his 2017-18 campaign with four different teams.

Jokinen started the season with Edmonton, was traded to Los Angeles, waived and claimed by Columbus, and eventually landed in Vancouver at the trade deadline. This suitcase season amounted to five goals and 17 points in a total of 60 games. The 35-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and hopefully he'll find some stability.

  • Canucks' Jussi Jokinen: Loving life as an Orca

Jokinen scored a goal and added two assists in a 5-4 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.

Jokinen has six points (one goal, five assists) in his last four games. He's playing for his fourth team this season and he's been his most productive for Vancouver. Jokinen has eight points (three goals, five assists) in 11 games as a Canuck and may be a viable fantasy producer in the next handful of games.

  • Canucks' Jussi Jokinen: Brought in at deadline

Jokinen was traded to the Canucks along with Tyler Motte in exchange for Thomas Vanek on Monday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Jokinen will join his fourth team this season, having previously spent time with Los Angeles, Edmonton and Columbus. Playing in a combined 46 games, the Finn notched one goal, six helpers and 54 shots. The winger was clearly on his way out the door anyway, as the Blue Jackets waived him Sunday, but will at least provide some return for Vancouver.

  • Blue Jackets' Jussi Jokinen: Put on waivers

Jokinen was placed on waivers by Columbus on Sunday, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic Cleveland reports.

With Columbus acquiring Mark Letestu, Jokinen's presence was deemed to be no longer necessary. The 34-year-old has only posted seven points (one goal, six assists) in 46 games this season, but could be claimed by a playoff team looking for veteran leadership.

  • Blue Jackets' Jussi Jokinen: Notches first point with Columbus

Jokinen picked up an assist while adding three shots and a hit in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the islanders.

It was his first point in six games since coming over to the Jackets on waivers in mid-January. Jokinen's spot on the fourth line doesn't afford him many scoring opportunities, however, and even though he had a 60-point campaign as recently as 2015-16 with Florida, the 34-year-old should remain a fantasy afterthought in Columbus.

  • Blue Jackets' Jussi Jokinen: Pointless in Columbus debut

Jokinen recorded two shots through 15:14 of ice time during Thursday's 2-1 shootout win over Dallas.

The Finn was claimed off waivers from Los Angeles on Wednesday, and he's now playing with his third team this season. It's obviously been a discouraging few months, but Jokinen shouldn't be written off just yet. He skated primarily with Nick Foligno and Matt Calvert during Thursday's game, and while that isn't a favorable fantasy assignment, Jokinen is definitely still a player to watch in deeper settings.

  • Blue Jackets' Jussi Jokinen: Scooped off waivers by Columbus

Jokinen was claimed off waivers by Columbus on Wednesday, Brian Hedger of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

This is a low-risk move for the Jackets seeing as how Jokinen is a pending unrestricted free agent cashing out the balance of a $1.1 million contract. The veteran, who is capable of playing any forward position, has just six points through 32 games between the Oilers and Kings this season, and we doubt the Blue Jackets expect him to come close to the .74 points per game he put up with the Panthers in 2015-16. Instead, Jokinen should be a decent bottom-six contributor for a team in pursuit of its first Stanley Cup championship.

  • Kings' Jussi Jokinen: Designated for waivers

Jokinen was placed on waivers Tuesday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.

Jokinen -- who was acquired via trade from Edmonton -- now finds himself on the waiver wire. The 34-year-old carries a relatively manageable $1.1 million cap hit that shouldn't dissuade potential suitors from picking him up. If the winger goes unclaimed, the club will likely assign him to AHL Ontario -- although the Finn could ask for an outright release, instead.

  • Kings' Jussi Jokinen: Records two helpers in loss

Jokinen collected two assists, two PIM and a plus-2 rating during Friday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.

After being a healthy scratch for Tuesday's loss to New Jersey, it was encouraging to see Jokinen respond with a multi-point showing against the Rangers on Friday. The veteran Finn has registered just a single goal and four assists through 14 games since joining the Kings, and he's clearly not locked into the lineup. Although, Friday's strong game likely extended his leash. While Jokinen is currently off the fantasy radar in the majority of settings, he shouldn't be completely ignored because he has the potential to climb the depth chart and has a track record of success.

  • Kings' Jussi Jokinen: Scores first goal with new team

Jokinen potted his first goal with his new club in Thursday's win over the Capitals.

Jokinen showed off his slick hands with a nice breakaway tally against elite netminder Braden Holtby. The goal held up as the game-winner for Jokinen, who has three points in eight games since joining the club. At this stage in his career, the 34-year-old doesn't offer much in terms of fantasy value. Jokinen is still good for the occasional tally, though, and could aid you in a very deep league. The veteran is probably one of the better fourth-liners around.

  • Kings' Jussi Jokinen: Debuting with royal club Thursday

Jokinen will make his debut with the Kings against the Bruins on Thursday, NHL.com reports.

The Finnish veteran was part of a 1-for-1 swap that saw Michael Cammalleri bound for Edmonton. It looks like there's nowhere to go but up for Jokinen, as he only managed one point (an assist) and a minus-3 rating over 14 games with the Oilers, but we're still projecting him to start out in a fourth-line role with the Kings.

  • Kings' Jussi Jokinen: Heads out west in trade

Jokinen was traded to the Kings in exchange for Michael Cammalleri, Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet reports.

Jokinen simply couldn't find his groove in Edmonton, notching just one assist and no goals on 24 shots through 14 games. Combine that with a minus-3 rating, and he was deemed an underwhelming veteran. The 34-year-old will likely never reach the 50-point seasons he used to post, so both the Oiler and Kings hope the change of scenery will benefit these journeymen through this exchange.

  • Oilers' Jussi Jokinen: Off to slow start

Jokinen put four shots on net in 15:01 of ice time during Saturday's drubbing at the hands of the Senators.

Through four games with the Oilers, Jokinen has yet to get on the scoresheet. He's put 10 pucks on net, but he's not seeing a whole lot of ice time and doesn't have a very high fantasy ceiling right now.
