Mike Brown: Released from PTO
Brown was released from his tryout by the Blue Jackets on Wednesday, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.
Brown made 58 appearances last season for the Sharks and Canadiens, but was only able to tally five points while averaging a meager 7:13 of ice time. In terms of fantasy, the winger's best contribution comes in the form of PIM, as he spent 90 minutes in the sin bin last year.

Blue Jackets' Mike Brown: Will attend camp on PTO
Brown signed a professional tryout agreement with the Blue Jackets on Tuesday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
Brown is likely just a placeholder with Columbus missing five forwards due to the World Cup of Hockey. The winger is 39 years old and recorded a meager five points in 58 contests last season; the veteran's main fantasy value came from his 90 PIM and 120 hits, but outside of those categories, his contributions are nearly nil.

Canadiens' Mike Brown: Plays Saturday
Brown (upper body) had two hits, two blocked shots and two shots on goal in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers. He had left the Habs' previous game due to the injury.
Montreal was officially eliminated from the playoffs with the loss, so we'll see if that reality has any impact on how head coach Michel Therrien chooses to use his vetarans vis-a-vis the young forwards on the roster. Brown has been in the active lineup most nights and gives an honest effort, which carries some weight with the coach. If he continues to get ice time and fantasy owners can use Brown's style -- the nine-year veteran has 23 PIM and 51 hits in 12 games with Montreal -- you'll get someone who doesn't hold back and is motivated to play for his next contract.

Canadiens' Mike Brown: Dealing with upper-body injury
Brown left Thursday night's game against Detroit early with an upper-body injury, Hockey Inside Out reports.
Brown took part in Friday's optional practice, but his status for Saturday's game against the Rangers has not been confirmed. The 30-year-old, who was the first star in Tuesday's win over the Ducks, brings some value in tough play. Since joining the Habs 11 games ago, Brown has 23 minutes in penalties.

Brown scored a goal and added an assist in just 7:42 on the ice in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Ducks.
Well, that's uncommon, to say the least. Brown had only three points in 53 games coming into Tuesday's action, but if you somehow bet the house on him scoring his second goal of the year -- not to mention another point to boot -- you'd have won a whole row of mansions. The 36-year-old enforcer's fantasy value is typically limited to hits and PIM, and he doesn't even rack up too many of those anymore.

Canadiens' Mike Brown: Returns to lineup
Brown returned to the Montreal lineup Thursday after being a healthy scratch Wednesday night. He had five hits and two penalty minutes in 9:10 of ice time in a 3-2 loss to Los Angeles.
Knowing the Kings like to he physical, head coach Michel Therrien activated Brown over Sven Andrighetto. In the two games he's been active since the Canadiens claimed him off waivers, Brown has eight hits.

Canadiens' Mike Brown: Makes debut with Montreal
Brown made his Montreal debut on Monday, skating 11:30 on the fourth line in a 6-2 loss to San Jose.
Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin admitted he's been unhappy with the way the team has been pushed around this season and the acquisition of Brown should help remedy that. Brown, who had three hits Monday, has 751 penalty minutes in 394 career games.

Canadiens' Mike Brown: Suiting up Monday
Brown, who was claimed off waivers by Montreal on Monday, practiced with the team and is expected to be in the lineup Monday night when the Habs play at San Jose, Brown's former team, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Brown skated on the right wing of the fourth line, along with Michael McCarron at center and Torrey Mitchell at left wing during the team's morning skate. Brown, who had three points in 44 games for the Sharks this year, is noted for his belligerence and brings some much-needed size to Montreal's corps of forwards.

The enforcer had stuck around in San Jose for a while, but it seems to be time for the NHL's best mustache to move on to different pastures. Brown will come out with Dainius Zubrus getting fully healthy. Brown's fantasy utility remains very limited.
