Kennedy (lower body) will rejoin the lineup Thursday against the Panthers, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Kennedy was expected to play Thursday, and that is indeed the case after missing four straight contests because of the issue. While the veteran has tallied 14 points in 46 games this season, it's hardly enough to keep him in consideration for fantasy leagues, so his return will likely go unnoticed for the most part.

Kennedy has now missed back-to-back games with a lower-body injury he sustained in Sunday's matchup with Columbus, and remains without a definitive timetable for his return to action. Kennedy left Sunday's game against Columbus with a lower-body injury, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Kennedy left in the second period and was considered questionable to return, but he never made it back into the contest. He's been unusually productive of late, recording five points over his previous three games before Sunday. Kennedy will have four days to recover before the next game, as the Devils don't play again until Thursday.

Devils' Tyler Kennedy: Racks up three helpers in win
Kennedy was a driving force behind the New Jersey offense Thursday, racking up three assists and a plus-2 rating in a 7-4 win over Minnesota.
He helped out on Devante Smith-Pelly's goal in the game's first minute, which got the Devils started on their best offensive output of the year. Kennedy's uncommonly warm right now, having put together five points over the course of a three-game streak. Don't count on it to continue.

Kennedy finally scored his first goal of the season Tuesday, opening the scoring in a 6-3 loss to Philadelphia with a power-play tally.
Perhaps not coincidentally, Kennedy also enjoyed a season-high 19:18 of ice time -- solidly three minutes more than he's averaged this year. With a mere seven points to show for 31 games, Kennedy still doesn't merit fantasy consideration in the overwhelming majority of formats, but it's worth monitoring his minutes in the coming days to evaluate whether this game was a fluke.

Kennedy also played a season-high 15:39 and finished plus-1 in his fourth game with the Devils since signing a one-year deal last Friday. Kennedy has a signed a one-year, two-way contract valued at $600,000 for the NHL level, Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger reports.
Kennedy, who has largely been a part-time player in the NHL, reportedly will bank $200,000 if he ends up in the AHL. The Devils evidently felt like he was worth taking a chance on after bringing him aboard on a professional tryout contract Nov. 18. He has 199 points in 477 career games with the Penguins, Islanders and Sharks.
