FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) Malachi Alexander scored a career-high 38 points with seven 3-pointers and grabbed 10 rebounds and Holy Cross held off a late Sacred Heart charge to win 72-67 on Wednesday night.

Trailing 41-35 at halftime, the Pioneers closed to 59-56 on Matej Buovac's 3-pointer with 7:04 left in the second half, but Alexander hit a 3 for a 65-57 Drexel lead. The Pioneers rallied with a 10-0 run in which Sean Hoehn hit back-to-back 3s to tie it at 67 with 45 seconds to go. Alexander scored three of the five straight points the Pioneers made in the final 22 seconds to hold off the charge.

Robert Champion added 10 points for the Crusaders (5-7), who shot 50 percent from the floor and 9 of 24 from long distance.

Joseph Lopez scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Sacred Heart (5-8). Buovac and Hoehn added 10 apiece and Hoehn tied his career best with six assists.
