CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Jordan Howard scored 33 points, Derreck Brooks tied a career high with 29 points, and the duo combined to make 14 of the school-record 17 3-pointers as Central Arkansas downed Nicholls State 106-83 on Saturday.

Howard, 7th in the nation at 47.3 percent on 3s, was 8 of 9 from beyond the arc, and Brooks finished 6 of 8. Howard's eight makes tied a career high and Brooks' six were a personal best.

Howard hit three 3s and Brooks added a 3, two free throws and two buckets in the first four minutes of the second half to give the Bears (8-18, 7-6 Southland) a 68-49 lead with 16:06 remaining. Nicholls cut the deficit to seven on Lafayette Rutledge's 3-pointer with 10:24 remaining, but Jeff Lowery hit a 3 for Central Arkansas to push the lead back to 10, and it remained in double figures.

Rutledge, who missed 12 games this season due to injury, set career highs with 29 points and nine 3s (9 of 22) for Nicholls (11-14, 4-8). Jahvaughn Powell added 15 points and Stevie Repichowski 12 for the Colonels, who finished 18 of 48 from the 3-point line.
