SEATTLE (AP) Matt Smith had 12 points, on 6-of-8 shooting, and eight rebounds, Moataz Aly made a tie-breaking layup with 20 seconds left and Cal State Bakersfield beat Seattle 51-48 for its eighth win in a row.

Jaylin Airington had 10 points and six rebounds for the Roadrunners (19-7, 10-1 Western Athletic Conference), who overcame a poor-shooting performance to beat the Redhawks for the fifth consecutive time.

Brendan Westendorf hit two free throws to give Seattle (12-14, 4-7) a 39-36 lead midway through the second half and William Powell's layup with 3:36 left put the Redhawks up 44-43. Dedrick Basile answered with a 3-pointer and the teams traded buckets before Powell hit two free throws to make it 48-all with 42 seconds to play. Aly was fouled on his layup 22 seconds later, but missed the free throw and, after Seattle miss, Justin Pride made 1 of 2 foul shots to cap the scoring.

Aly stole it on Seattle's next possession, was fouled and missed both free throws, but Powell's 75-foot desperation heave at the buzzer fell short.

Matej Kavas had 11 points and Powell scored 10 with eight rebounds for the Redhawks.

Bakersfield shot just 32 percent from the field, including 2 of 22 (nine percent) from 3-point range, and 41 percent (9 of 22) from the stripe. The Roadrunners outrebounded Seattle 47-36, including 15-3 on the offensive glass, and outscored the Redhawks 13-0 on second-chance points.
