Murray State guard Zay Jackson, suspended all of last season and sentenced to 60 days in jail in February for a hit-and-run that happened in September, has returned to the team, according to a report by ESPN.com Monday.
Racers coach Steve Prohm said Jackson is a go and in the thick of things again after serving 49 days behind bars for the incident captured on video above. According to the report, Jackson has been playing with the team in informal practice since he got out of jail in April.
The school had no formal protocol and process to allow Jackson back on the team; the athletic department opted to make the decision after Jackson paid his debt. His grades were not an issue, either.
Murray State went 21-10 last season and lost in the Ohio Valley tournament title game to Belmont. The Racers lose projected NBA Draft pick Isaiah Canaan in addition to three other senior starters.
